The post olllco oillclals of this city recoived an Important tip from n local banker, who said he had been asked to act as agent of a concern opurating under the name of tlio Louisiana Loan and Trust Co., but which appears to be tiie Louisiana lottery. A pros pectus which was issued by tho con cern, a copy of which has been se- cured, mentions drawing for loans and names a number of applicants. It Is signed by J. F. O'Donnell as president; D. M, Slocum, general manager. It claims a cash capitol of $1,600,000, and cencludes: "It is the most popular financial and money-loaning system in the world." THE PRESBYTERIANS. Near the close of the general assembly yester day afternoon an amusing scene oc curred upon tho introduction of a resolution calling the attention of ministers, ciders and studeuts to tho evils of the tobacco habit. Each stop of tho discussion was greeted with roars of laughter. Finally, however, tho resolutions wero passed with a shout and waving of hats. An Incident unusual in tho gen oral assembly was tho taking of a collection for the benefit of the col ored nilnlBtor who was left stranded after coming from North Carolina to prosecute an appeal. Emmons Blaine, after a conference with Clarkson, Conger and others de clared he know nothing regarding his father's intoutlons, though lie admitted Blaine's silence seemed to mean a good deal. Senator Hauseborough, of Nortli Dakota, has advices that five of tho six delegates from his state are for Blaine, and nil but two of the South Dakota delegation who were in structed for Harrleou hnvo gone over to Blaine. But it now seems probable Hon. Thomas Reed, of Maine, will be temporary chairman. Friends of Harrison were booming him as well. FIRE IN A MINE. Fourteen Dead Already Found and Soveral Injured. A Littlo Girl Breaks Her Neck. SiitUUK, Wash., Juno 1. A sad accident occurred the evening of Decoration Day. Kueady Wallace, a 7-year old girl, appearod with 200 other children in the line of pro cession.
