The plunge on all her dresses ended exactly at the waist. She kept the decolletage wide and open occa sionally adding a modernistic sil ver pendant in a futile attempt. to offer some degree of cover Since dresses were as bare in back as in front, Marucelli's col lection also supplied capes of a military cut to protect milady from the chill air. Marucelli's elbow length capes, completely beaded in glistening white and banned in electric blue, were almost as theatrical as her more revealing costumes. For contrast, she topped most of her day clothes with demure little girl sailor straws, complete with streamers. The Roman house of Mingolini- Gugenhcim shared Tuesday night program with Marucelli and pre sented a collection with a different fashion philosophy. Suits had well marked hips, bosom and waists but were kept sleek and slim at the same time. The waistline was marked by par allel lines and sometimes wan dered a scant inch above or'bclow the "natural" waistline. The official word has come from Paris, where fashion edicts originate, that the youth ful look will be stronger than ever this spring. Enhancing the young feeling ot many new fashion designs is the trend to softer, lighter colors in cosmetics. Pink, for example, will be tops on the list. And, for you under voting age, it is ideal. The new lipstick shades are tailored for the peaches and cream set, but they tan enhance mother and, quite possibly, grandmother, too. One lipstick, with complemen tary loundation and powder in pressed form, is designed with a creamy base to protect young lips. lust as important is the fact that it stays "true" under any light ing. You will com! to appreciate this as you experiment with var-j ious shades to find those that worl to advantage with your skin oloring as well as the many colors in your wardrobe. You probably have discovered by now that your lip line isn't perfect. Don t fret. You can slim too-full lips, make droopy ones smile and till out narrow ones with some patient applica tinn. The important first step is to start with your lips powder-dry. If you use foundation, extend it slightly over your liD line as base and to eliminate any color gap- To build up thin lips, apply lipstick with a brush slightly out side your hp line, but do not change the natural pattern of jiiur lips or extend the lipstick too far outside it. If your mouth needs slimming. outline slightly within your lip line. Foundation will cover your natural line. The best way to correct a droopy look is with a smile. But, lipstick does help. Apply your lip stick in straight lines from cen ter to corners of the lower Hp. This helps cut the downward curves. Incidentally, most of us tend to apply our lipstick looking straight into the minor. You can create a better lip profile if you use a mirror to study the side view, too. C i i. rt !,fil, At . From high school and college girls to young marrieds, tje young fashionables will find junior size styles scaled to fit youthful figures and designed to rellect all the 1m portant silhouettes of the season. Certain fashions, of course, are scheduled to f i n d most enthusi astic acceptance with this lively, busy young crowd. Chanel - minded suits and sep arates, for example, are a iavor ite. Boxy cardigan jackets, white and ice-cream colored suits with braid bindings, and good coordi nation of hues for suits, linings and blouses highlight the easy smartly casual look.
