Lingerie Takes On Pastel Shades Spring lingerie is off in a pas tel cloud . ... The look is soft, tresn, completely feminine. Coordination is the rule, with panties and peignoirs, slips, bras and girdles all matched to each other. To carry coordination a step further, undergarments match outerwear. Colors carry out the elegant theme. Dove and pearl grays, mauve, palest beige, ivory, to paz, clear blues 'and cameo pink are some of spring's most excit ing shades. White, always favorite, is touched with flecks of color in lavish embroidery and ribbon inserts. - Petticoats look especially lux urious and frothy in the extrav agant use of all-over lace. Ele gant chantilly is supported by sheer nylon In two-color effects black over pink, white over blue. Petticoat shapes are carefully planned to conform with outer wear shirts. Bouffants, less in the spot light, have their place under full, formal skirts. Sheath, semi- sheath and softly flounced styles are making fashion news. Under spring's slender silhou ette, slips are more figure con scious. Contoured bust sections shape nylon tricot and taffeta with all-over ' lace and shadow embroidery. Slender skirts demand a slip that is slit at the hemline or flounded with pleating for walk ing ease. The sheer dress fabrics of the new season have brought a re turn of the camisole look, with wider straps, more embroidery and lace. This spring your lingerie wardrobe must be color-coordi nated, captivating and carefree. Various Beits Add Drama to Spring Outfits Narrow belts in unusual shapes and wider ones with dec orative accents add drama to -pring outfits. In the first category are belts with scalloped edges and belts dipping from high in front to low in back. Others are inter woven bands of leather. Teenage Fashions Borrow From Best Of Adult Styling Teen fashions have come of age. No longer merely hinting of grown up styling, this spring's teenage fashions frankly bor row the latest and best of adult fashions. Blousons, capes, the Dutch Boy look all are appealingly adapted to compliment the teenager's youthful figure. All make up the teenage spring look the slim, yet soft, silhouette. Suits and coats, in particular, notably reflect the fashion mat urity of spring styles for teens. For suits, the bov jacket is still a favorite, but this spring it is softened by back blousing and made more interesting by other back details such as self-fabric bows, banding, or tabs. On of Newest One of the newest suit sil houettes is the Dutch Boy l&ok, featuring a slim but rounded skirt. Another popular teen style, ' the pleated skirt, is achieving more and more fash ion notice particularly for dressier suits. Capes small detachable shoulder capes or waist length capes, substituted for suit jac kets play a fashion-prominent role. Like suits, the teen coat line is basically slim, but a softness is obtained by the new and im portant and usually detach able shoulder cape. The full length cape coat is another fashion "steal" from the grown ups, giving the teener a pretty sophisticated look. Adding to the grown-up charm of teen coat, and suit fashions silk and wool mix tures and silky weaves. Import ant too are flannels and wor steds. Subtle colors the beige and grey tones, navy and pastel- tweeds add further to the over-all look of sophistication. Teen dresses also lend them selves easily to the new spring styles. The line is slim with back blousing to lend a high fashion note of softness. Topped by caraco jackets, blousons, shoulder capes, or dusters, the dresses add up to pretty teenage ensembles. A fa vorite the classic or sissy shirt waist dress is now available in virtually every fabric and goes to any casual or dressup occasion. Silk and silky textures come into spring fashion prominence, joining such teen favorites as organdies and cottons. Pastels, particularly lilac, and beige tones are the color preferences for dresses. Silk Variations Follow New Trend The look of fashion this spring is one of gentle, feminine ele gance, and the new spring fabrics are very much in keeping with this trend. Silk is the overwhelm ing favorite in ail its many var iations, in blends and as a strong influence on the textures, colors and prints of other fabrics. Blends are more popular than I ever, with silk-and-cotton lead ing the field. Synthetics have arrived in a big way' to add to the general aura of quality. Newsiest silks of all are the sheers, especially chiffon. Going along with the success of sheers is the popularity of supple, lightweight, airy fabrics. Chiffon-weight woolens, tissue tweeds and fine worsteds are all favorites. Especially' interesting is the revival of open-weave eta mine tweeds and fine meshes. Another group of fabrics with a delicate air are the many woven novelties of Dacron-and-cotton. Fabrics for coats achieve a new height of luxury in white cashmere and camel's hair. Rich ness is also achieved by blends of wool with angora or with such furs as oppossum. Pastel coat ings of burlap, strawmat and boule are other favorites. The novelty sweater with dis tinctive styling detail has never been so well designed. Menswear influence is seen in sports shirt collars, cable stitching, V-necked cardigans (newer than V-neck pull-ons), Turtle, mock turtle and crew necklines are promi nent. . PEAR BLOSSOM SPECIALS!
