(International) Nationalist, Red Chinese Refugees Fight in Camp Riot Hong Kong (U.PJ Two thousand Chinese refugees fought police with bottles and clones today in a resettlement camp riot that started as a quar rel between pro-Nationalist and pro-Communist Chinese. Two Britons and an unknown number of Chinese were injured in the clash which police boke up by firing tear gas bombs. It mi Hong Kong's first political demonstration since 1952. An official statement said the rioting at the Lichenguk Village resettlement area, near the city of Kowloon across the bay from Hong Kong proper broke out following a dispute over some flags." He did not say what the dispute was about. Rdi Taar Down Arches But Chinese reports said the clashes began when the Com munists tied to tear down cere monial arches put up by the Na tionalists to celebrate today's "Double Tenth" anniversary the 45th anniversary of the founding of the national govern ment by Dr. Sun Yat-sen. Reports from the battle scene said three persons were killed and two injured when a fire en gine ran into the crowd after the driver was stoned. A Chinese re settlement officer, a British po lice superintendent and at least five other persons were injured in the riot. Extradition Planned In Silverfon Probe Salem (U.R) Arrangements were being made today to extra dite a 23-year-old former Silver ton man from California on thre'e charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor in con nection with parties in the Sil verton area last month. The man, Don R. French, was arrested in Oakland, Calif., yes terday on a warrant based on a secret Marion county grand jury Indictment. x Two other men already have been arrested on morals charges, one of them pleading innocent in Marion county Circuit Court and the other scheduled to enter a plea next Monday. Oregon Traffic Fatal To 305 So Far This Year Salem (U.R) Traffic accidents In Oregon have killed 305 per sons so far this year, the State Traffic Safety division reported today. The count includes 36 deaths reported in September. The nine-month death count is 10 higher than for the same period last year. Head and Use Classified Ads Sawmill Operator Defends Donations Of Pay to Morse Roseburg (U.R) Paul Hult, operator of a Roseburg sawmill, today defended the donation of a half day's pay by several of his employees and the proceeds of the lumber they manufactured during the time to the campaign fund of Sen. Wayne L. Morse. Hult, of the Hult Lumber company here, said there was nothing illegal about the dona tions which the men and the mill made from working a half-day of overtime in behalf of Morse. Sen. Barry Goldwater (R.-Ariz.) had asked the Senate elections sub-committee to investigate the donations to ascertain whether the mill had deducted federal in come and other taxes. "Goldwater is just sore be cause it was done by Demo crats," Hult asserted. "They don't care when the Republicans do it," he added. Hult said 31 men had worked the overtime shift and that after deductions, $424 in wages along with the proceeds of the lumber handled, were turned over to Morse's campaign. The 31 men who worked rep resented only part of the mill's crew and the work was volun tary, Hult said. Red Tape Stalls Boy In Joining Family Sydney, Australia (U.R) Thirteen-year-old Lynton Band Austin flew to the United States today to rejoin his mother, nine years after she left him behind i'i Australia because of tangled government red tape. The boy has never seen his American stepfather and barely remembers his mother. Mrs. Walker E. Austin of San Luis Obispo, Calif. She married Austin while he was serving with the U. S. armed forces in Australia during World War II. Lynton is her son by a prev ious marriage. S. govern- Explosion in Building Injures 6, Causes Fire Glenwood, Iowa (U.R) An explosion shattered the interior of a two-story packing plant early today, injuring at least six men, including a rabbi. Tropical Disturbance Studied Off Bermuda Miami (U.R) An Air Force plane left Bermuda today to in vestigate a new tropical disturb ance kicking up high winds in the Windward Islands well over 2,000 miles from Florida. The area was located in a weather bureau bulletin Tues day night about 1,250 miles east-southeast of San Juan, P.R., at latitude 15.5 north, longitude 48.0 west. The disturbance was moving slowly west-northwest. A natural gas well costs about $100,000 to drill. Milkulin's pic ture, shot across the shoulder of thi son, showed Mrs. Bela Bana thy's tearful face as she em braced the boy she last had seen in an Austrian refugee camp. Chicago (U.R) The Siamese twin tropical fish owned by Mrs. Jo Miskinis would probably have plenty to say about naviga tional hazards if they could talk. Mrs. Miskinis said the fish, which are joined at the stomach facing each other, are "having the darndest time trying to swim, because each has a mind of its own." Porter, 35 Gran ite St., Ashland, were involved in an accident on Siskiyou boulevard in front of the As sembly of God church early Sun day morning, according to Ash land police. Police said the Nunes vehicle was struck from behind. Porter was cited for driving while under the influence of intoxicat ing liquor, and has posted $200 bond, police said. Passengers of the Nunes car included Russ Greene, William Burk and Richard L. Farrell, all of Medford, police said. Farrell was taken to Ashland general hospital for possible neck in juries. Newbry to place the slogans of nominees for circuit judge after their names on the judicial ballot for the general election. The action came after Circuit Judge George R. Duncan issued a writ in a mandamus proceed ing filed by Circuit Judge Aired P. Dobson of Multnomah county. Judge Dobson had alleged that Newbry had refused to certify his ballot slogan to the Multno mah county elections registrar. Newbry explained his refusal by referring to an opinion from Attorney General Robert Y. Thornton that only the names of a nominee for circuit judge should appear on the judicial ballot.
