C, John Newman New Head of Gem Club The Morrow County Gem and Mineral club met December 18 at the Heppner Hotel for the regular business meeting and election of new officers lor the coming year. Officers elected were, president, John Newman; vice president, Hubert Wilson; secretary-treas-urer, Ora Evans. After the busi ness session a Christmas program and exchange of gifts was held. In token of the appreciation for the cooperation to the club, the members and friends presented to Mr. and Mrs. Harold Sanders two Pendleton car robes. Mr. Sanders was program chairman of the club for the past year. Mrs. Newman was in charge of the refreshments and program. The next meeting will be Janu ary 15 at the John Newman shop. All persons interested in gems and minerals are welcome to attend. ' jr.. lone Sorority Discusses Project The Beta Omego chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha met at the home of Mrs. Eulenna Corley on Wednesday, January 2, with Mrs. Maxine Linnell as co-hostess. The sorority discussed making bath robes for the pioneer Me morial hospital as their project for another year. Most of the members turned in their 5.00 they made on individual pro jects. LiUANE bAKEB, (Mary Ison) who were married December 30 at MUton-Freewater. Mr. Baker is the son of Mr. and Mrs. E. Markham Baker of lone and the bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S. V. Ison of Milton-Freewater. The couple will make their home in Forest Grove where he is attending Pacific University. We sang songs for entertainment and made plans for helping the Blue Birds sing. Rainbow For Girls Chooses New Officers New officers were elected by the Rainbow for Girls at their meting Monday evening at the Masonic temple.. Officers chosen were Phyllis Quackenbush, worthy advisor; Frances Slocum, associate advi sor; Helen Graham, Charity; Jan. ice Beamer, Hope; Janice Martin, Faith; Judy Cochell, secretary; Fern Albert, treasurer. Initiation will be held Janu arv 21 and installation is plan ned for the last of February. o Mrs. Ferrell is Bridge Club Hostess The Fidas and Fyoudas met on Wednesday evening of last week at the home of Mis. Robert Fer rell for eight o'clock dessert bridge. Mrs. Floyd Jones had high score and Mrs. Frank Connor was se cond. Others present were Mrs. L. E. Dick, Mrs. Herman Green, Mrs. Howard Bryant, Mrs. William Cox, Mrs. Paul Jones and the hostess. Six Couples Hosts For Open House Hosts and hostesses at a New Year's Eve open house for about 140 guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Wyman were the Wymans, Mr. and Mrs. Don Greenup, Mr. and Mrs. Pat O' Brien, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon O' Brien, Mr. and Mrs. Harry O'Don nell, Jr., and Mr. and Mrs. James Valentine. Methodist Youth Meet Sunday Night The Methodist Youth Fellow ship met Sunday night at the j church with Renne Harris leading a discussion on church music. Mrs. Tom Wells gave a talk on the subject.
