CABI- l'etitions from farmers and other organizations have been sent to congress, regularly, for several years, asking t!iat body to create a department of agriculture, making its head a cabinet ollicer. Congress has finally complied with the re quest and passed a bill to that effect and it has gone to the presi dent for his signature. As the Friend says President-elect Harri son will have another portfolio at his disposal, which the aspirants j ' for cabinet positions have over looked and the cabinetmakers have not fitted with an occupant. This will be the case if the president signs the bill, which is doubtful. The bill as it passed the senate originally did not please the house conferrees, the latter insisting strenuously that the signal Service LOOK AFTER THEIR RECORD. On the election of United States senator a discussion and vote was had, yesterday in the lower house of our state legislature that will be viewed with some interest by the people. We append the vote upon the adoption of A. C. Jennings memorial to congress as king thai the constitution be amended so that the senators be elected by a direct vote of the people, so that the standing of our representatives upon tt e subject may be known : YEAS. The modes of death's approach are various, and statistics show conclusive ly that more persons die from diseased of the throat and lungs than auy other, ft is probable that everyone, without exception, receives vast ru rubers of I'ubeiclo Germs into the system and where these germs fall upon suitable soil they start into life and develop, at flm slowly and is shown by a slight tickling sensation in the throat aud if allowed to continue their ravages they extend to the lung's pro ducing consumption and to the head, causing catarrh.
