It went into oper ation June 15. 1887, and all mar riages in this State since then were absolutely void . The law has already done more harm than good, and one ot the first duties of the coming Legis lature was to repeal it, and, so far as tbey can b a retrospective act, mane legal the marriages in the mean time entere ; into. A law that to particularly effects social life and alto all social traditions thonlu never be adopted by a leg islature until a full know edge of the changes proposed is spread, throughout the length and breath of the State. The way it looks now, as respects this law, is that the legislator who proposed it had some private grudge to indulge and log rolled it through without dis cussion. The whole business will bear investigation, and in any event tbe law should be repealed instanter. TASVEKT IttiTES. Tangent, Jan. 29. Crop are growing nicely and look fine.
