Call at the office and procure one of those lots before thev are all sold. The Calapoitia Mines. A Brownsville correspondent of Oregonian writes concerning the the Luckv Bov mine: Messis. Dyson, Standish & Moore intend to start for their claim the middle of this week, and are going to cut a trail up Quartz creek to their mice, and put in surplies so as to work their main tunnel this winter. The rains that have fallen in the Willamette valley of late have ren dered seeding operations not only ' possible but really in the finest i condition possible, and the sowing ' of fall grain upon the fallowed land has been pushed forward with commendable energy and rapidity. If the weather continues fine this N week will probably see nearly the entire acreage in, and the prospects 'of a crop next year as fine as ever ! dawned upon the valley. The old captain is determined that Thomas shall marry Dora, who is in love with Richard Sparks. Dora and Richard elope, ami board the steamer Bristol for Newport. The widow, Nora and the count follow them on board, and while search ing for them the boat starts, and they are compelled to take t he journey, much against their will. Act II. Scene on board the steamer Bristol. During this act a concert is given by the passengers for the benefit of the Irish Land League. Grand musical olio, introducing the entire company, in the latest songs, dances and topical hits. Also Mr. Rochester's funny bur lesque, entitled: "111 Treated 11 Irovatore." Act III. Salon of the steamer "Bristol." Night on the sound. The poor, sea-sick widow. The count finds a child in one of the state-rooms, ami makes the widow believe that the child belongs to Nora. He is about to ttirow it overboard, but is prevented by Jerry Thompson, the steward, who discovers that it is his own child. The count is accused of his perfidy antl proes to be a certain John Wattles, ami no count at all. The captain gives his consent to the marriage of his son to Nora, the widow gives her consent to the union of Richard Sparks and Dora, and all are consequently happy. For each person use one tablespoonful of coffee and put in one tablespoon ful extra. First place this in the coifee pot, then pour on boiling water and allow it to stand five minutes before serving. New Schooner. The Corvallis Times says that the steam schooner beir.g built at Yaquina City for Paul Schwader is almost completed and we learn will be launched next Friday. She is a trim built little vessel with a carrying capacity of about 14'.) tons and will do gc jd service over at the bay. Her twin sister being built for W. T. Kadir, is not so far advanced but the force now at i work cn .Sch wader's boat will soon j complete the other schooner. Chinese Phea-a jIs Mauled. Messrs. Wills Bros, of this city, have received an order for a num ber of Chinese pheasants for breeding purposes from the citizens of Marshtield Oregon, and they will pay 75 cents each for all" the Chinese pheasants delivered t them alive, and in good condition until their order is filled. There i no law against capturing or keep ing these birds for breeding pur poses, and the boys can trap them and brings them in without fear of arrest. Mai; Kaisinu. The address of Grand Master Mayer to the lodges was read after supper and was followed by shor speeches by s veral prominent citi :ens of this citv. ILLEGAL WHISKY' YEMHXi. Gea. Mahley Arrested for Selling Liquor Without License Deputy Sheriff Vanny Smith brought to this city yesterday Geo. Mahley, whom he had arrested lor selling whisky without proper license at Rock Creek on the Jine of the Oregon Pacific railroad. Mahley was running a saloon for Ad. Harmon, and by evading the license law, it is said, was doing a thriving business among the rail road men. His trial will occur before Justice Humphrey to-day. National Surgical (Institute.
