Chris Walker will be in Portland on Sunday June 28. The Seattle Chapter of the Na tional academy of Television Ans and Sciences announced today that Oregon Public Broadcasting has been nomi nated for four 1992 Northwest regional Emmy Awards. Oregon Field Guide has been nomi nated for two of the four Emmys. The Field Guide special, produced by Eric Cain, dealing with the controversy sur rounding private grazing on public land has been selected in the “Outstanding Public Affairs Series-Location” cat egory. Another Field Guide program that focuses on efforts to re-introduce trumpeter swans to Oregon: a wild horse photo camp and a hot tub in the Alvord Desert has been nominated in the “O ut standing Information Programming Se ries-M agazine” category. All About You, a documentary Salute To Black Music Month D’Atra Hicks Freddie Jackson Bemshi Speaking of D ’Atra, this recording and theatrical star has an upcoming album on Capitol that will make you say “This diva can truly sang! With producers like Richard Marx, Barry Eastman (who produced Anita Baker), Nick Martinelli (Whitney Houston), and Narada Michael Walden working their This svelte balladeer is returning with a powerful Fifth LP on Capitol, called Time For Love. The July release includes the much requested cover of “Me And Mrs. Jones” and several won derful duets, including one with D’ Atra Hicks which was produced by Richard Marx. Full Force Capitol recording group Full Force, the talents responsible for such introducing such artists as Lisa Lisa and Cult Jan, Cheryl Pepsi-Riley and Ex-Girlfriends, and won millions of American hearts in House Party I and House Party 11, are back with a ven geance. The six-m em ber group, which writes, produces and sings their own material, us returning to the m usic scene with their debut LP on Capitol Records slated for summer release. Group mem bers “Bow-Legged Lou,” Paul Anthony, “Curt-Curt,” “Shy-Shy,” “Baby Gerry” and Brian are currently recording at Soundlab Studios in Brooklyn. The group was formerly signed to Columbia Records where they main tained many chart successes and wrote and produced for such artists as Samantha Fox, James Brown and La La. talking. =x= r ) Gary Brown Mr. Rhythm and Romance, Gary Brown is very busy these days. He has been in the studio with The Sisters (BeBe & CeCe’s younger sister) where he’s produced three tracks for their debut album. Gary is also producing some tracks for the upcoming Capitol Records album by D ’Atra Hicks (the diva with the powerful voice). Both projects are tentatively scheduled to be released in the Fall. Young Young M.C. recently returned from Australia for two days of intensive Pain ing before racing in the Gold Coast Indy 500. Following his Down Under racing debut (he did great!... until he cracked his car in half by hitting a wall... as did semi-prodriver Vince Neil, mind you!), he raced into the studio to work on his album follow-up last year’s Brainstorm. And watch for Young in the upcoming “A Day In T..e Life Of Hollywood” book, a prestigious project in which ( Pulitzer-prize-winning photographers shot behind-the-scenes activities. The cameras caught Young working out in Hollywood’s Gold Gym with his pal Jeff Goldblum (“The Fly”). The crossover gospel artists are basking in the success of their latest project, Different Life-styles fea turing the current single “Depend On Y ou.” T hey've collected another Grammy (Best Gospel Duo) to add to their already impressive number of tro phies. They were the first gospel artists to be presenters on the 1992 American Music Award program. On the popular kids shows Nickelodeon and Sesame Street, the duo added a little gospel flavor, as they did for “The Today show,” “The Arsenio Hall Show,” “The Soul Train Awards,” “The NAACP Image Awards” and “Dove Awards” to name a few. So what do they conquer next? A Winans family concert tour that started March 28, production projects with Bobby Brown (for a duet with BeBe & CeCe’s sister Debbie Winans), the Clark Sisters, Dionne Warwick, and The Sis ter who, naturally enough, are BeBe & CeCe’s younger siblings! Hammer produced by the late Jon Tutde, deals with America’s right to privacy and illustrates that our private lives arc more public than any of us realize. All About You has been nominated in the “Out standing Documentary-Current Issues” category. And the fourth Emmy nomination went to OPB’s production of Your Land, My Land, produced by Reagan Ramsey. Your Land, My Land chronicles the Klamath Tribe of southern Oregon and the U.S. Government’s failed attempt to terminate its supervision of Ameri can Indians. This local documentary was nominated in the “Outstanding Documentary- Historical/Biographi- cal” category. The Northwest Regional Emmy ceremony will be held in Seattle, Wash ington, on June 5th.
