Street roots 13 rt • April 1, 2011 Yeti evidence or product placement? cientists studying the elusive yeti, also known as Sasquatch or Bigfoot, in the Pacific Northwest are beginning to question the authenticity of an archived photo taken of the ape-like creature. "The photo, right, had been used by anti logging groups as evidence that the old growth woods in Oregon, Washington and British Columbia, Canada, were the last environs where Bigfoot could thrive. A new analysis of the photo, made by scientists with Weyerhaeuser^ suggest the follicle- endowed creature in the photo, shown wailing over tree rubble, is a fake. On a close-up, the brand logo Columbia” could be seen on its upper left- hand side. “It appears to be ju st another Forest Grove transient out enjoying the woods,” said Raymond Wooster, head of Weyerhaeuser’s woodland creature science lab. “Hominids don’t shop at Columbia.” One advocate for preserving the forests, said the photo doesn’t prove a n y th in g. “Everyone knows that the “Columbia” logo is always on the right side, not the left,” he said. He seem ed not to, rem em ber his name. In the Pacific Northwest, thousands of Columbia-attired, well-fuzzed man-apes scurry off to the woods on a regular basis.
