The age categories are as follows: Little Miss Siletz 7 to 12 years old Jr. Miss Siletz 13 to 17 years old Miss Siletz 18 to 24 years old Any young woman interested in running in one of these categories can contact Craig Whitehead at 1-800-922-1399, ext. 230, or 541 -444-8230 for an application. The pageant is scheduled for Aug. 10, 2000, and the winners will be crowned before the first grand entry at the Nesika lllahee Pow-Wow on Aug.11. The deadline to submit royalty applications to the Pow-Wow Committee is July 1,2000. Any applications turned in from July 1 to July 15 will be accepted only with Pow-Wow Committee approval. Applications turned in after July 15 will not be accepted. Applicants will be judged on their and personality, speaking ability, dance ability in both the feather dance and intertribal styles, and ticket sales. Each contestant will receive a commission on the number of tickets that she sells - 1 to 500 at 20 percent, 501 to 1,000 at 25 percent, and anything over 1,000 at 30 percent. This year’s royalty will receive sponsorship to attend the Gathering of Nations Pow-Wow and Miss Siletz also will be sponsored in NCAI competition. You are so precious that God wants each of us to have a mother, a mother to love and care for us. And when something happens we can’t have her another lovely woman comes into our lives - a blood sister, an auntie, a godmother or the special grandmother. It is you we salute today - the mothers who bore us and those who took their places so we might be the children, the persons you envisioned. .. an? children’if V°u are near y°ur w,fe and mother or near your special mother substitute, please place your hand on her knee. Mom, we thank you for leading us when we were toddlers, during our childhood teen, and adult years. Thank you for directing us on the right way. Now please place your hand on her shoulder.
