A representative of the railroad com pany showed up at the Bowerssettk- ment on railroad grant lands on Jenny creek last Friday and found quite a num ber of settlers camping and preparing to erect cabins. He informed them that if they put up cabins the company would eject them. Benton Bowers was in Ash land on business at the time and did not meet the representative of the company. He left for Jenny creek Monday and a number of cabins will be under con struction this week. Mr. Bowers was anxious to meet any authorized repre sentative of the company on the scene and he is prepared to perform in his presence any act necessary to make actual residence, such as erecting a cabin, or the cutting down of growing trees, or any other legitimate act that the company wishes to forbid him to do.—Valley Record.
