A representative of the railroad com
pany showed up at the Bowerssettk-
ment on railroad grant lands on Jenny
creek last Friday and found quite a num
ber of settlers camping and preparing to
erect cabins. He informed them that if
they put up cabins the company would
eject them. Benton Bowers was in Ash
land on business at the time and did not
meet the representative of the company.
He left for Jenny creek Monday and a
number of cabins will be under con
struction this week. Mr. Bowers was
anxious to meet any authorized repre
sentative of the company on the scene
and he is prepared to perform in his
presence any act necessary to make
actual residence, such as erecting a
cabin, or the cutting down of growing
trees, or any other legitimate act that
the company wishes to forbid him to
do.—Valley Record.
