As a result of the enthusiasm aroused
in Ashland by Dr. House in his physi­
cal culture instruction work at the ..Cha.
tauqua, a permanent organization has
been effected to continue the work, to
be known a; the “Hon 1 -e l YearClub,”
which will encourage individual treat,
ment by weekly or monthly instruction
or exhibition meetings. The officers oi

Dix; secretary, Mrs. A. C. Joy; treas­
urer, Rev. E. F. Green; physical di-

It took twelve innings and a iot of
wrangling to decide the bail game be
tween the Ashland and Medford teams at
Ashland last Friday, the final score being
10 to X in fovor of the visitors. Many
spectators became disgusted with the
"rag chewing” which was worse at
this game tian at any other played dur­
ing the season, and left the grounds al
the end of the fifth inning. "Chuck"
Wilcox pitched for the Ashland boys
and did some fine work, but his support
for the most part was to the bad.

appointed Hon. E. D. Briggs, U. S. Com­
missioner for Ashland. This wifi be a
great convenience to. Ashland people as
heretofore those wishing to maxe filings
on public lands were necessitated to
come to Jacksonville or Medford or to
the U. 8. land office at Roseburg to
find an official qualified to act. Now
they will have an official easily acces­
sible in their own town and one except­
ionally well qualified to give them an
impartial service.
