Crandall is spending the day at Hot Lake. Harris French has returned from a visit to Portland. ' Miss Lillian Baker went to Imbler this morning to visit friends. Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Bach of Imbler, Bpent last evening in La Grande. Mr. and Mrs. C. EL Finch of Enter prise, were visitors in La Grande today. B. V. Conley, of Pendleton, is at tending to business in La Grande to day. ., : Chas. Mlmnaugh, a lumberman of Wallowa, came in on the afternoon train. H. P. Lewis the ipsurance man, went to Haines on business matters this morning. I. S. Douglas, of La Grande, has drawn No. 1737 in the land drawing at Coeur d'Alene. Miss Sacks, who has been visiting Miss Zoe Bragg, returned this morn ing to Baker City. A party of 24 from Penfleld, Penn sylvania, passed through La Grande this morning en route to the fair. Mrs. Will French and her mother left today for Wallowa for a ' short outing expecting to remain over Sun day. ; J. S. Radcliff, of Salem, represent ing the Horticultural Fire Relief of Oregon, is in the city today attending to business. Mr. and Mrs. Stublefield of Enter prise, who visited the Seattle fair on their wedding trip returned this morn ing. Attorney Charles E. Cochran re turned this morning from a visit to Salem and Corvallis on legal mat ters. Rev. Baker, who Is here from Iowa visiting his Bister Mrs. Jackson, re turned home this morning and will visit a day or two at the Idaho con ference now in session. Prof. N. J. Mansager left last even ing for Seattle where he will attend the fair before returning to assume his duties as a teacher in the high school here. Attorney Dan Boyd of Enterprise rame out to La Grande yesterday with his family, who left last night for a visit to Pittsburg. Mr. Boyd returned this morning. The Advocate is the church paper of the Methodist de nomination for Washington, Oregon and Idaho. And under the director ship of Dr. Rader is covering the field to a larger extent than ever. Mr. and Mrs. James Nash left today for an outing at Phiz springs. William Hull and E. D. Gasklll are arranging for an outing in the vi cinity of Medical springs. Word was received here today, that a daughter blessed the home of Mr. and Mrs. HIrshell McKinnls, who are now residents ofModesto, California. Mrs. Mox Block and daughter re turned last night ' from Portland, where they have been living for the past year. They will make La Grande their home again. L. Couch of the well known real estate firm of Couch McDonald of Wallowa, returned home this morning after spending a few days here look ing after business matters. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Masterson left this afternoon for an outlnflr nt Phi springs. This will make eight yprs that Boh has taken his vacation r.t this popular resort. Mr. Miller the man who became fa mous In this county for raising the large strawberries at Elgin, but more recently of Wallowa county, arrived ia La Grande this afternoon accom panied by his family. They are on tkelr way to California, where they vlll make their future home. Some very important business is to come up for consideration at tne annual meeting of the Commercial club on the 16th of this month. All will start the new commercial year here with more vim and as in the past the good work will go on. The elec tion of officers too, Is attracting a great deal of attention.
