NEW IDEAS IN SOUPS C3 0 0 . n O ' ' CHICKEN CASSEROLE Chicken and macaroni are sauced with rich cheese soup, garnished with ripe olives and topped with golden cracker crumbs to make a dish with a flair. Asparagus spears with fresh lemon and butter make an ideal accompaniment. PENNY-WISE CHICKEN DISH Plentiful poultry finds Its way into the menu frequently these days. With prices so low, it's the solution to many a ouagei meai. But lust because a meal is budget priced, doesn't mean it need be budget tasting. Even when we are counting pennies, we can add a gourmet touch to our meals. The gourmet touch to Chicken- Mac Casserole Is tne ncn, goiaen cheese sauce plus sliced ripe ol ives. The sauce comes in a can in a can of condensed cheese soup. The soup, new on the mar ket this past year, is a skuiiui. blend of cheddar and Romano cheeses, whole milk and selected seasonings. It's satin smooth and so much easier to use than a cheese soup prepared from scratch. : ' CHICKEN-MAC CASSEROLE 3 cups cooked macaroni (1 cup uncooked) 1V4 cups cubed, cooked chicken 1-3 cup sliced ripe olives 2 tablespoons minced pimien to Vi teaspoon salt J can (104 ounces) Con-,, denscd Cheese Soup, undi luted Vi cup milk ' Dash cayenne 1-3 crumbled crackers Heat oven 375 degree (moder ately hot). Combine Ingredients (except crackers) in a IVi-quart casserole. Top with crackers. Bake 30-35 minutes or until hot. Makes 6 servings. Just to be sure that your pancakes are nice and thin. We like the batter recipe we are giving below. The name of this tasty dish is Crepes Colette. Crepes, as you know, is the French name for pancakes. CREPES COLETTE 2 cans Heinz ondensed Cheese Soup, undiluted 1-3 cup milk 2 cups diced, cooked chicken Vi cup sliced ripe olives. 2 tablespoons chopped pars ley ' 1 teaspoon Worcestershire Sauce 8 thin pancakes ' ' 1 tablespoon milk '1:' Paprika Heat oven to 375 degrees (mod eratcly not). Combine lVi cans soup and milk, in saucepan, Stir in chicken and next 3 ingredients heat. Place 1-3 cup mixture on each pancake; roll;- secure with toothpick. Place in greased bak ing dish OW X 7H" x lVi". Combine remaining soup and 1 ta blespoon milk. Spoon over crepes; sprinkle with paprika. Broil 8 inch es from heat 5 minutes. Makes 8 servings. ' Thin Pancakes: cup plus 2 tablespoons sift ed all-purpose flour . Vi teaspoon salt 2 eggs V cup plus 2 tablespoons milk! 2 tablespoons melted butter or margarine Combine ingredients; beat un til smooth. For each pancake, pour about Vi cup batter on hot, greased griddle or skillet; tilt griddle to spread batter thinly When lightly browned, turn and brown on other side; remove Keep warm in towels or foil or in oven.
