CHICKEN CASSEROLE Chicken and macaroni are
sauced with rich cheese soup, garnished with ripe olives
and topped with golden cracker crumbs to make a dish
with a flair. Asparagus spears with fresh lemon and butter
make an ideal accompaniment.
PENNY-WISE
CHICKEN DISH
Plentiful poultry finds Its way
into the menu frequently these
days. With prices so low, it's the
solution to many a ouagei meai.
But lust because a meal is
budget priced, doesn't mean it
need be budget tasting. Even
when we are counting pennies, we
can add a gourmet touch to our
meals.
The gourmet touch to Chicken-
Mac Casserole Is tne ncn, goiaen
cheese sauce plus sliced ripe ol
ives. The sauce comes in a can
in a can of condensed cheese
soup. The soup, new on the mar
ket this past year, is a skuiiui.
blend of cheddar and Romano
cheeses, whole milk and selected
seasonings. It's satin smooth and
so much easier to use than a
cheese soup prepared from
scratch. :

"Over at Lakeview there Is talk
of putting the crop on a commer

in that area it Is already handled
in that way. A Lakeview man told
the chamber of commerce there
that a representative of a large I
grocery firm had assured him ot
a market in the big cities lor all
the wild plums Lake County could
send. Nursery stock of wild plum
trees Is to be mado available to
Lake County ranchers.

wife. They might even think you
stole the recipe from a celebrat
ed Parisian chef or at least
copied it from an old French
cookbook. The recipe, however, is
quite simple. Just to be sure that
your pancakes are nice and thin.
We like the batter recipe we are
giving below.
The name of this tasty dish is
Crepes Colette. Crepes, as you
know, is the French name for
pancakes.
CREPES COLETTE
2 cans Heinz ondensed
Cheese Soup, undiluted

Paprika
Heat oven to 375 degrees (mod

soup and milk, in saucepan, Stir
in chicken and next 3 ingredients

Combine remaining soup and 1 ta

8 servings. '
Thin Pancakes:

ed all-purpose flour
. Vi teaspoon salt
2 eggs
V cup plus 2 tablespoons milk!
2 tablespoons melted butter
or margarine
Combine ingredients; beat un
til smooth. For each pancake,
pour about Vi cup batter on hot,
greased griddle or skillet; tilt
griddle to spread batter thinly
When lightly browned, turn and
brown on other side; remove
Keep warm in towels or foil or in
oven. Makes 8 pancakes.
Use the Drippings
The gravy or sauce Is an Im
portant part of a Swiss steak ot
any other braised steak serving.
This Is because In cooking by
moist heat (hero is a certain
amount of flavor lost to the drip
pings. By making use of the
drippings in gravy, the meat
flavor and nutrients are saved.
