SUNDAY, DECEMBER 15, 1363 MEDFORD MAIL TRIBUNE. MEDFORD, OREGON Miss Donna June Smith JVed To Kenneth Sacchi Miss Donna June Smith daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John W. Smith. 2650 Table Rock Road, became the bride of Ken neth Gary Sacchi, 233 South Ivy Street, in a ceremony held De cember 7. The bridegroom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Sac chi, Auburn, Calif., who travel ed to Medford for the wedding. Dr. George G. Roseberry of ficiated at the rites held at First Methodist Church at o'clock in the evening. Baskets of red carnations and white chrysanthemums decorated the church for the ceremony attend ed bv 75 euests. Miss Patricia Selby was solo ist. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a floor length gown of satin brocade fashioned with tailored bodice, long tapered sleeves, notched scoop neckline with miniature tailored bow. The bell skirt had a peacock chapel train which fell from a shepherdess bustle accented by a self fabric rose. Her elbow length veil of hand rolled silk illusion was held by a cap of pearls and she carried a bouquet of red rosebuds, white carnations and ivy. Two Attend Bride Miss Sharon Huffman, Ash land, was maid of honor and Mrs. Max Gillispie was bridesmatron. They wore red velvet dresses in afternoon length with elbow length sleeves and full skirts. Their accessor ies were white and their head dresses of white fur. They car ried bouquets of white and pep permint carnations. Carolyn Hardy was flower girl. Her red velvet dress was accented with white fur at the neckline and she wore a matching head dress. She carried a white bas ket of red and while petals. Robert Croucher, Jacksonville, served as best man. Ushers were Kenneth Smith and Mr. Gillispie. Candlelighlers were Ray Smith, brother of the bride, and Susan Huffman. Bridge Club Winners Listed Twenty-eight players compet ed in the Riverside Bridge Club session December 11. Winning in the north south position were Mrs. J. J. Finegan and Mrs. B. L. Marten and Mrs. F. Rchl ing and Mrs. G. B. Togertson, who lied for first and second nl.irps with Ol'A points. Mrs. Fred Purdin and Paul A. Hatton won third place in that nos t on with 89 points. East-west winners were Mrs. Van Gilbert and Mrs. M. M. Herman. 10814: Mrs. 0. E. Vas- lev and Mrs. P. A. Stewart, 91V4 and Al Gilhousen and Jim Mor gan, 89. In the future games played by the Riverside Club on Wed nesday afternoons and the Bear Creek Club, Thursday evenings, will be held at the Halton home, 810 Mincsota Street. Many Origins Given For Plum Pudding BOSTON, Mass. (UPI)-Plum pudding, a standby of holiday menus, shows up In assorted books as having assorted origins. , , , , One commercial producer of Iho pudding cited one hook on "Old English Customs" by a man named Ditchfipld, who said that plum pudding "is not older than the early years of the 18lh . renturv." It was a "House of Hanover" or active settlement dish consisting of a porridge or pottage, and not a pudding, made up of very strong broth of shin of beef. "Encyclopedia of Food" says tho earliest record of plum pud ding came from Iho memoirs of a Frenchman who took a voyage on a British ship in 1058. The chef combined flour, lard, currants, salt and popper, in a napkin and cooked the "por ridge" in bouillon which the Frenchman called "not abso lutely bad." Tho first mention of "plum pudding," per se, was given in a 171)1 book of a Mrs. Kraser who was called the "sole teacher of the art of cookery" in Edin burg, Scotland. She entitled Ifir raisin-like dessert "plum pud ding," and it may have boon becauso of the swelling of the raisins that the dish got its name. "Plum" evidently meant to "rise" or "swell" in those days. In that area. For her daughter's wedding and reception which followed Mrs. Smith chose a satin bro cade sheath dress of orange and brown with brown accessories. Mrs. Sacchi wore a beige dress with black accessories. At the reception Mrs. Jerry Smith, sister - in - law of the bride, cut and served the cake, and Mrs. Jerry Brannon pour ed coffee. Mrs. Ray Hogue pre sided at the punch bowl. In charge of the guest book was Miss Carole Sacchi, Auburn, Calif., sister of the bridegroom, Miss Diane Hcidcmann and Miss Janice Gaull were al the gitt table. Trip Later The coupe plans a wedding trip to Auburn, Calif, from De cember 24 until January 1. For traveling the bride wore a white wool sheath dress with gray accessories and the red rosebuds and white carnation corsage from her bridal bouquet. The bride attended Medford High School. Mr. Sacchi attend ed Medford High School and is employed by Cascade Wood Products. They are making their home at 233 South Ivy Street. They were presented pledge pins and a traditional yellow rose. At the business meeting, a financial report was given on tne recent American Cancer Society benefit style show by Mrs. Herbert Edwards, chair man of the event. The chapter also voted to give financial aid for clothing for children at Jewett Primary School in Cen tral Point. The ways and means chair man, Mrs. Darrel Greb, report ed on the rummage sale held in the Fehl Building and the Christmas decoration auction to be held at the December meet ing at the home of Mrs. Mau rice Harvester. A bake food and doll clothes sale is scheduled in Central Point for December 14. The annual Christmas and secret sister party will be on uccemner m at the home of Mrs. John S.
