Juvenile - A 16 -year -old Medford boy was arrested late Tuesday evening on a charge of illegal possession of alcohol after residents in southwest Medford notified city police of a reckless driver in the area. Police caught the boy after he pulled into a pri vate driveway and jumped from his car to escape pur suing officers. He was turned over to Jackson county juve nile officials. No citations were issued. Grass Fire - Medford fire men were summoned to a grass fire about 5:40 p.m. yes terday along McAndrews rd. near Corona ave. Furniture Workers Strike in Portland Portland - (UPD - Furniture workers Local 3182 struck two firms here today after wage talks bogged down. Pickets were posted at Port land Furniture Manufacturing Co. and Fashioncraft Furni ture Corp. The strike involved 29 furniture workers. Some 174 upholsters and teamsters honored the picket lines. The union is seeking a 12 'S cent wage increase. Wed nesday praised an agreement to postpone the communica tions satellite bill for ten days as "very wise." At the same time, he re newed his recommendation that the measure be layed aside until after fall elections to give the public a chance to express its views. The bill would create a pri vate corporation to run a com munications satellite system under close government su pervision. Morse and a small band of other Democrats have filibustered against it as a "giveaway." The Senate agreed to send it to the Foreign Relations Committee briefly for hear ings on its foreign relations aspects. Morse, a member of the committee, said he assum ed the hearings would be open to the public. Indonesia Buys United Nations Bonds United Nations - IUPD - Indo nesia has purchased $200,000 worth of the $200 million United Nations emergency bond issue bringing to $78, 308,257, the total amount pur chased or pledged to date. The boy came from a village near Naples six weeks ago in an attempt to recover his sight. Doctors in New York were unable to help the youngster, who was blinded in an accident.
