Elderly More Stable
In Light and Noise
Durham. N.C. H'PD Break
out the lights and noise
makers to help advance the
emotional stability of elders
about you. And forget about
eating by candlelight.
Dr. Ewald W. Bussc, direc
tor of Duke university's cen
ter on aging, reports the
elderly persons require
brighter lights and more noise
for emotional stability than
do younger adults. "The ef
fort to keep noise at a mini
mum so that older people can
enjoy peace and quiet may
be the worst possible ther
apy," Busse said.

Morse Praises
Delay Agreement
Washington - H'PD -Sen.
Wayne Morse (D-Ore.) Wed
nesday praised an agreement
to postpone the communica
tions satellite bill for ten days
as "very wise."
At the same time, he re
newed his recommendation
that the measure be layed
aside until after fall elections
to give the public a chance to
express its views.
The bill would create a pri
vate corporation to run a com
munications satellite system
under close government su
pervision. Morse and a small
band of other Democrats have
filibustered against it as a
"giveaway."
The Senate agreed to send
it to the Foreign Relations
Committee briefly for hear
ings on its foreign relations
aspects. Morse, a member of
the committee, said he assum
ed the hearings would be open
to the public.
