Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament will begin at 1 p.m. with the general parish ador ation devotion continuing un til 9 p.m. At that time the men's Nocturnal Adoration Society prayers will begin and continue throughout the night, ending just before the 6 a.m. Sunday mass. The stations of the cross will be said after the evening mass every Friday. Lenten Mission v. A Lenten mission, to be given this year by the Rev. Gabriel Morris, OSB, of Mt. Angel, will take place during mid-March, Father Mai said. Several other parish pro grams are available to those looking for further Lenten ac tivity. The religious discus sion clubs, studying all phases of the mass, meet nearly every night and some days of the week and are open to any in terested adult. Ilg, are specifically for non-Catholics seeking information about the Roman Catholic church, but the Catholic layman is encour aged to accompany his non Catholic friend or relative to the meetings. The classes are held at 8 p.m. at St. Mary's High school and it is not neces sary to make prior arrange ments before joining the group. Night Classes for Adults Tuesday night classes are being held for adults who will receive the sacrament of con firmation on March 5. A growing parish library is available for those looking for materials for their Lenten reading program. It is located In the rectory and is open to parishioners at a new time, from 7:30 to 9 p.m. each Sat urday. Officers Elected For Youth Group At the annual business meeting of the Christ's Am bassadors of the First Assem bly of God held Jan. 31, new oltlcers were elected for the coming year. The Rev. Gerald Smith was elected president and Bryan Nelson was re-elected to serve as vice president. Other of ficers chosen were Lilly My ers, secretary; Ciaudine Ed wards, treasurer; and Lenora Jacobs, reporter. The new officers were In stalled at the Feb. 5 service by Pastor Robert E. Cull. Out going president, Daniel Smel ser, gave a farewell address and welcomed the new presi dent and officers. Smelser has been elected to office of gen eral superintendent of the Sunday school. . Mr. Cull will speak on "The Power of Growth" at the Sun day 11 a.m. service, and the church choir will sing. The Rev. and Mrs. Gerald Smith will sing a duet at the 7:30 p.m. evangelistic service. A girls' trio will be sung by Lonnie Jennings, Bonnie and Joyce Henson. Dale Stansfield will give a reading of the Thirty-seventh Psalm. St. Mark's Starts Class for Adults Classes of instruction in religion and the basic tenets of the Christian faith design ed for adults, will start at St. Mark's Episcopal church, Thursday, Feb. 16, at 8 p.m. in the parish hall. The course will continue for 12 weeks. The classes, which will be conducted by the Rev. George R. V. Bolster, rector of St. Mark's, and the Rev. Theo dore J. Ehrlich, assistant, will be open to nil who care to attend and will involve no commitment to further asso ciation with the church. Subjects which will be cov ered in the course of Instruc tion will include church his tory, doctrine, worship and practice, The Christian Sacra ments, Holy Bible, Book of Common Prayer, organization of the church, meaning and purpose of confirmation, and a concluding class on personal religion. The classes will be Informal and questions and discussion will be included. They have been working un der the direction of the Rev, Presbyterians List Activities For Coming Week Central Point -"What God Can Do for Our Moods" will be the title of the sermon to be preached at the 11 a.m. worship service Sunday at the First Presbyterian church, Central Point. Following the service a coffee hour will be held in the church fellowship hall. Church school and Adult Bible, study classes begin at 9:45 a.m. Sunday. The Adult Bible study class meets at the home of the Rev. Robert Olm sted, pastor, 20 Crater lane. There is also an adult Bible class which meets Mondays at 7 p.m. at 20 Crater lane. The Deacon s will , hold their monthly meeting at the church Tuesday, Feb. 14 at 7:30 p.m. Jacksonville - During Lent the Jacksonville First Pres byterian church will be the center of an extensive pro gram emphasizing the world mission of the church. Meetings will be held each Thursday from Feb. 16 through March 30. This series of meetings will leature out standing and dedicated mis sionaries, pastors and laymen. Thursday marks the first in the series and will begin with a discussion period of "The Nature of the World in Which We Live" from 7:30-8:15 p.m. and conclude with a scries of pictures and a talk on the edu cational , and evangelistic work in Colombia by Dr. Robert W. Lazear, former executive secretary of . the Mission in Colombia. The pastor, the Rev. King K. Jones returns to the pulpit Sunday morning. He will preach on "God Provides a Way." The choir will sing "Lord, I Will Follow Thee." The solo part will be sung by Miss Jane Anders. Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts of the community will be honored during the morning worship Sunday. The Cub Pack sponsored by the church will participate by repeating their oath. Roundtable Topic Given For Sunday The Ministers Roundtable, heard Sundays at 8:05 a.m. over radio station KM ED, deals this week with explain ing some terms used by Christians but frequently mis understood. The terms to be explained are: Sancitificatlon, holi ness, saint, and separated (as in a separated life)." Panelists will endeavor to explain how these terms are used in the Bible and what they mean in modern life. Participants in the discus sion will be the Rev. George G. Boy Scouts To Be Honored At Westminster; Topics Given for Presbyterians 'How To Get Ahead" will be the subject of a sermon to be delivered by Dr. D. K. West at the First Presbyterian church Sunday at both the 9:30 and the 11 a.m. services. At the early service the youth choir will be heard in "Round Me Falls the Night' and an anthem based on the 86th Psalm by Kettering will be sung by the chancel choir at 11 a.m. Miss Colleen Barr will sing "My Redeemer and My Lord" for both services. The Junior High cabinet will meet Sunday at 5 p.m and Youth Fellowship for senior highs will meet at 7 p.m. in the Fireplace room. A special presentation on the life of Lincoln will be given by Dr. John Brandenburg with Fireside following at the home of Mr. and Mrs, John Hatch, 944 Whitman st. Father, Daughter Banquet Scheduled A Father and Daughter ban quet will be held Saturday, Feb. 11 at the Zion Lutheran church at 6:30 p.m. This is the first time that the banquet has been held. Special recognition will be given to the youngest and old est dads and the dad with the most daughters. A film will be shown after the dinner. Sunday at 4 p.m. the first class in a series in preparation for church membership for adults will be held. The lec tures and discussions will be given on the catechism and doctrine of the Lutheran church. ttgi THE REV. I. E. GILLET Missionary To Speak Pastor To Meet; Speaker Listed Dr. George G. Roseberry, minister of First Methodist church, and Mrs. Roseberry, will attend the Hawaiian Methodist conference Feb. 22 to 26 in Honolulu. They will leave Portland Feb. 16 and return Feb. 28. They will also visit friends and vacation in the Islands. The Rev. Ira E. Gillet, an Oregon Methodist conference missionary to Africa, will speak at the 9:30 and 11 a.m. worship services Sunday.' Mr. and Mrs. Gillet . have spent more than 30 years on. the mission field in Africa. He will also speak at the School of Missions at 5:30 p.m. and will show a movie "Non-Whites at Worship" for the inspirational hour. There will be a brief ob servance in the 11 a.m. serv ice for National Boy Scout week. Troop 7 boys and their parents will attend as a group. Men have rejected it while claiming to follow it. Many, seeking to follow it permit themselves to be guided by various sets of wrong rules of interpretation and still others re ject the word for the traditions of men.
