The two hospitals totaled 1 200 babies, or an average ; rate of one birth every six1 hours. It w as pointed out l hat, whereas less than 37 per cent; of all births took place in hos-i pitals in 1935, more than 95 per cent of all babies are born in hospital today. National Hospital week events will start off Monday with an open house at Rogue Valley Memorial hospital which will offer tours of the building from 2 to 4 p.m., and from 6 to 8 p.m. The annual auxiliary tea will attain be a feature of the open house, and is scheduled for 2 to 4 p.m. Visitors will also view an art-exhibit by the Southern Oregon Society of Artists in Week. Elmer V. Ayres is director of the McLoughlin orchestra. The concert today will fea ture the McLouglin, Hedrick and Medford High school orchestas. with about 16& young musicians to participate. Group to Attend Health Meeting Jackson county representa tives will attend the annual meeting of Oregon Tuberculo ais and Health association at Portland May 10-11. Making the trip will be Mrs. Cleo Kent and Mrs. Joan Bass, nurses with the Jackson Coun ty Health department, and Mrs. Zola Parsley of the Gold Hill Health unit. Also attending will be three members of the Jackson Coun ty Tuberculosis and Health as sociation; Mrs. Ivan Burton, director of the bi-weekly tele vision program on health edu cation, and Mrs. Virginia Kyer, executive secretary. H. P. Jewett, Central Point, president of the association, will attend the meeting in Portland and then will repre sent Jackson county at the an nual meeting of the National Tuberculosis association Los Angeles, May 15-19. Methodist Guilds Set Installation Ruth Esther Wesleyan Serv ice guild of First Methodist church will meet this month with Mary-Martha guild of Ashland Methodist church. Guild members are reminded that the meeting will be Tues day, May 10, at the Wesley house, Ashland, at 7:30 p.m. The two groups will hold a Joint installation service con ducted by Mrs. Edward Nel son. Mrs. Mabel Winston, reg istrar at Southern Oregon col lege, will be the main speaker. Miss Jacqueline Walker, (at left) president of Insurance Women of Jackson county, and Mrs. Carol Robertson, vice president and chairman of the club's Insurance Women's day May 10, completed plans for the observance last week. The club will hold a banquet at Kim's new banquet room at 7:30 p.m. with Philip B. Lowery, Medford attorney, to speak on "New Fields of Liability." Master of ceremonies will be S. L. Stark and entertainment will be provided by the Populaires. Anyone interested is invited to the event, and reservations may be made by calling Miss Walker at SPring 2-6167. or Mrs. Robertson at SPring 3-6628. Reservations Open for Party Reservations may still be made for tables at the annual spring card party sponsored by St. Catherine Guild of St. Mark's. The event will be held Tues day, May 10, at 7 p.m. Reser vations may be made by tele phoning Mrs. Mark Taylor, SPring 2-2302 or Mrs. John Crawford, SPring 2-5733. It was reported that tickets are available for women in the Guild hall and couples in the parish hall. Dessert will be served prior to the evening of cards. Prizes will be given for dif ferent scores at the various tables. The event is the chief money raising project of the Guild. Co-chairmen of the event are Mrs. Russell Renner and Mrs. Louis Thurman. Mrs. Ed ward Earnest, Mrs. Richard Greene, and Mrs. L. G. Miles are in charge of decorations.
