Horn won the broad jump, his specialty, sent new OSC low hurdle record to win that vent in 23.7, was third in the 100-yird dsh nd also ran in the mile relay. His broad jump distance was 23 Wi. Amos Marsh of Oregon State won the 220 yard dash in 21.5 over California's Wil lie White, who won the 100 in 9.5. Marsh also was timed in 9.5 in the 100. Norm Hoffman of OSC won the mile in 4:16.5 and the Beavers' Gary Stenlund took the javelin with 230 3'z. (UPI Telephoto) (UP1 Telephoto) Nieder Breaks Shot Put Record At Drake Relays United Press International Des Moines - OT - Bill Nie der, a former Kansas star now in the Army, broke the recog nized world shot put record in the Drake relays Saturday with a throw of 63 feet, 1H4 inches. The mark was posted as Nieder beat record-holder Parry O'Brien for only the third time in 19 tries. Nieder, who earlier this year tossed the 16-pound ball 65 feet 7 inches in the Texas relays, hit over 63 feet three times in his four measured tosses. His other tries were 63-10, 63-8, and 62-2V2, and he got his best distance on his fifth try. O'Brien, whose world rec ord toss of 63 feet 4 inches was set last year, hit 63 feet I'i inches in his first throw yesterday in the feature event. Linfield Keeps NWC Edqe in United Press International The Northwest conference baseball race was shaping up as a two-team affair today. Linfield posted a double win over Pacific Saturday at Forest Grove to keep its hold on first place with a 6-1 mark. Willamette downed Lewis and Clark twice In Salem to keep second place with a 5-1 record. Linfield downed Pacific B-0 and 5-2. Willamette took 9-0 and 5-2 victories over Lewis and Clark.
