A Sunday, Juno 7, 1959 Mr. and Mrs. Siphta Edward Foster (Classic phoio) Foster-Smith Ceremony Held in Medford Church An vent of May 30 was the wedding of Miss Janeth Ann Smith, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Niles B. Smith, 8 Richmond avenue, and Steph en Edward Foster, son of Mrs. Virginia Foster, o Woodland, Calif., and L. B. Foster, Sacra mento, Calif. The ceremony was held at First Presbyterian church. Dr. D. Kirkland West of ficiated at the three o'clock afternoon rites attended by 200 relatives and friends. Ed gar Thomas, Sigma Nu fra ternity brother of the bride groom, was soloist. o The bride wore a white Chantilly lace gown with chapel train and her veil was held by a lace and seed pearl cap. She carried a bouquet of white rose's ando'ivy. - Mr. Smith gave his daughter in marriage. Miss Linda Smith was hon or attendant for her sister. Other attendants were Miss Mardi Meyers of Medford and San Francisco; Miss Sandra Hubbard, and Mrs. Joe Fran cis, Corvaljis. They wore white eyelet embroidery frock over yellow cotton satin with yellow headdress es. They carried nosegay bou quets of white daisies and ivy. Dana Bessonette was flower girl. She wore a white net Luncheon Honors Worthy Matron Mrs. Frank C. Roberts and Mrs. Roy Nordwick were hostesses for a recent lunch eon honoring Mrs. Earl Mc Kinney, retiring matron of Reames chapter, Order of the Eastern Sta? It was held at the home of (Mrs. Roberts, on Snowy Butte road, Central Point. The afternoon was spent at cards. Present wereMrs. Mc Kinney, Mrs. ftay K. Frank Little, Mrs. Druealla Haver- stick, Mrs. Glen Uy, Mrs. Carl Oestreich, Mrs. Delia Denney and Mrs. Lio4 Caton, frock over yellow cotton em broidered with white daisies and i carried a white basket filled with yellow rose petals. Garner and Frederick Hau pert were candlelighters. Peter Foster, Woodland, Calif., served as best man for his brother. Seating the guests were Don Ong, Tony Arana, Jim Hawks and Dick Lume nello, the last three being fra ternity brothers of the bride groom. Baskets of yellow iris, white peonies and ivy decorated the church for the double ring ceremony. The bride's sister, Linda, arranged the flowers. Mrs. Smith wore a beige silk dress for her daughter's wedding with orchid colored hat. Mrs. Foster chose an avo cado green dress with gold accessories. Their corsages were orchids. Mrs. James Grigsby and Mrs. Garner T. Haupert ar ranged and served at the reception which followed at the Girls Community club. The newlywed couple trav eled up the coast to Corvallis where they attended Oregon state college graduation and after July will make their home in Anaheim, Calif., where Mr. Foster will be as sociated with his uncle in the printing business. For travel ing the bride chose a beige jacket dress with green and beige accessories. The bride is a graduate of Oregon State college wnere she was a member of Pi Beta Phi social sorority and is em ployee, by isurelson s. Mr. Foster was graduated from Oregon State collegethis vear and was president of Sigma Nu fraternity. Prior to the" wedding a re hearsal supper was held at the bride's home given by the omitns. , 4 Scottish Rite Women, To Meet on Monday Scottish Rite Women's club will meet Monday, June 8, at 8 p.m. in the Masonic temple. Co-hostess was Mrs. Ray Davis. ' The marriage of Miss Stev ens, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred N. Stevens, Butte Falls Star route, Eagle Point, to Byron Davis, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Davis, Park Place No. 5, Medford, was set for Saturday, June 6. . A "this is your life" theme was" used along with the bridal motif as decorations for the occasion. Pictures of the hon oree taken during the various ages of her lifetime and a bridal doll with arrangements of iris, which formed an aisle, made the background for the gift table. Miss Stevens was assisted at the. gift table by Miss Lauraine Davis. The guestXof honor was surprised when a prologue of her life was given during the evening. At the refreshment table pink tapers in holders trim med with nosegays. of clover blossoms flanked the cake. Guests from Eagle Point, besides the honoree, were her mother and two sisters, Mrs. Fred N. Stevens and Pamela and Diana Stevens, Mrs. Ray mond Robertson, Miss Jean- ette Robertson, Mrs. Kermit De Hass and Mrs. Ray Scher merhorn; Mrs. Harold Greb, Talent; and Mrs. Lester Wake- man and daughter, Leslie, Gold Hill. Attending from Medford were Mrs. Richard Mulhollen, Mrs. James Mulhollen, Mrs, Fred Stevens Sr., Mrs. Jess Boggs, Mrs. Oscar Nordstrom, Mrs. Henry Peck, Mrs. Jake Nelson, Mrs. Charles Nelson, Mrs. Fred Nelson, Mrs. Claude Stevens, Mrs. Henry Stevens, Mrs. Fred Farlow, Miss Sandy Farlow, Miss Lois Far low, Mrs. Dale Pratt, Mrs. Carl Black, Miss Carleen Black, Mr. Davis' mother Mrs. Ray Davis, the hostess and her three children, Tim, Laurie and Linda Underwood. Washington PTA -Honors Faculty The executive board of Washington Parent-Teachers association gave a luncheon for the school, faculty in the school cafeteria June 4. Robert Sage, principal, pre sented Mrs. . Kenneth Blair, unit president, with an orchid corsage from the faculty in appreciation for her work and cooperation during the past year. Mrs. Blair announced that Mrs. Fred Walker, Mrs. Rob ert Butler and Mr. Sage are leaving the faculty of the school this year. Mrs. Walker will teach , at Lincoln, Mrs. Butler at Oak Grove, and Mr. Sage will be principal at Roosevelt school. Mr. Sage presented the new Washington school principal, Ronald Weatherford, to the group. Mr. Weatherford is presently the principal from the West Side school. Approximately 50 members of the faculty and executive board attended the event. Officer Returns After USAF Duty Robert A. Gray, who has been serving in the Strategic Air Command of the United States Air Force as a fir3t lieutenant, has concluded his tour of duty and is now' at home with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Gray, Cherry lane. He was released, from the USAF in mid-May and spent some time in Europe before returning to Medford. He served four years as a co-pilot of a B47. In recent months young Gray has been assigned to duty at the Platts burg Air Force base near Lake Champlain, in New York state. During the latter months of his service, Lt. Gray was in England from time to time. f Meeting Planned For Mistletoe Club Mistletoe club will meet at the Girls Community club Wednesday, June 10, at 12:30 pjn. for a dessert luncheon. On the committee in charge are Mrs. Elsa Walker, Mrs. Florence Laing, Mrs. Irene Shirley and Mrs. Maud Lovell. Mrs. O- T. Wilson and Mrs. L. A. Dusenberry were in charge of the event. . OSC Students Engaged to Wed Judge and Mrs. E. C. Latou rette, Oregon City, have an nounced the engagement of their daughter, Linda Mary, to Gerald Leroy Evans, son of Mr. and Mrs. Allen East gate, 612 Franquette street, Medford. Both young people attend Oregon State college, where Miss Latourette is president of Alpha Phi sorority and her fiance is a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity. Mr. Evans is a senior ma joring in food technology and has accepted a position with Harry and David Bear Creek orchards. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. T. M. Little field Rogue River drive, Shady Cove. No date has beeen set for the wedding. Country Club To Hold Party A christening party' is planned at Rogue Valley Country club Saturday, June 13, for the club's newly en larged and redecorated din ing room. This will be the first event for club members since the work was completed Mr. and Mrs. James Shaw and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Lewis are chairmen, and they state that informal summer attire will be in order for the party. A social hour is set for 8 o'clock' and a buffet dinner will be served from 10 o'clock until midnight. Abby Green and his orches tra will play for dancing. Mrs. Walter Michael Hostess for Group Past Chiefs club of the Pythian Sisters met at the home of Mrs. Walter Michael with Mrs. Ida Ireland as co hostess. The club will meet with Mrs. Florence Bain June 17. Pythian club will meet at the home of Mrs. Margaret Cochra 63 Bush street, Ash land, Tuesday, June 9 at 8 a.m. Thirty members of the fam ily attended, including par ents, daughter, brothers, sis ters, uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces and cousins of the couple. Colors for the table were silver and pink with an ar rangement of Dainty Bess roses complementing the pink roses of the anniversary cake baked by Mrs. Oscar Swan son. Mrs. Wilson provided the flower arrangements. Mrs. Dusenberry cut and served the cake. Mrs. Steven Wilson poured coffee and Mrs. Sanford Richardson pre sided at the punch bowl. , A silver "money tree" made by Mrs. Ernest Leavitt pro duced twenty silver dollars as a gift to the couple. Mr. and Mrs. Tonn both were born and raised in Jack son county. Mrs. Tonn has taught school for several years, mostly in Central Point where she is now' on the staff at Jewett school. Mr. Tonn is on the staff of the Grange Cooperative Sup ply, x Major to Leave For New Jersey Major Douglas Eden of the United States Air Force will leave June 9 for New Jersey after spending the past few weeks in Medford with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. O. A. Eden, 211 Genessee street. Major Eden has been assigned as head of recruiting for the entire state of New Jersey and three counties in New York state. Mrs. Eden and the couple's three children, Elizabeth, James and Margaret, will re main in Medford for the sum mer and join the major in the fall. Major Eden has been as signed to duty in Japan the past four years. 4 Dunlevy Family To Leave Monday On Vacation Trip Mr. and Mrs. James Dun levy and children, 408 Ard more avenue, will leave Mon day for Portland. From there Mrs. Dunlevy and the daugh ters, Judy and Betsy, will take the train for Akron, Ohio, to spend the summer with relatives. Mr. Dunlevy and their son, Pat, will spend a week on the Oregon coast fishing before returning to Medford. PkS? ill College Student Leaves for Horm Sidney Smith left iast week for his home in Laguna Beach. Calif.,- after complet ing his freshman year at Southern Oregon college, Ash land. The young man made his home during the year with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph. E. Rinard, 1708 Thomas road. The student, the son of M. Sgt. and Mrs. Stanley Smith, Laguna Beach, sang with the . choir of First Methodist church, Medford, during the school year. He plans to re turn to the valley and SOC in the fall. Cooper, Portland, became the bride of Robert James Lyons, son of Mrs. Emily Lyons, 621 Albert street, Medford, in a ceremony held May 23 at First Congregational church, Eugene. The Rev. Wesley Nicholson officiated at the double ring afternoon ceremony. The bride wore a white em broidered taffeta and nylon frock with blush veil held by a white rose. She carried pink rosebuds encircling a white orchid. Richard L. Cooper, Portland, gave his sister in marriage. Miss Judy Denhart and Miss Anne Burch, both Portland, attended the bride. They wore pink polished cotton frocks and carried pink rosebuds. Jim Peart, Medford, serv ed as best man and Gerry Ly ons, brother of the bride groom, and Maurice G. Coop er, Portland, brother of the bride, seated the guests. . The wedding reception was attended by 60 relatives and friends. Assisting at the re ception were-Mrs. Carl Czes la, Mrs. Barnes Napier, aunts of the bride from Portland; Mrs. Maurice Cooper and Mrs. John Sedey, sister-in-law and sister of the bride, respective ly; Mrs. Basil Kelson, Eugene, sister of the bridegroom; and Miss Susan Sedey, niece of the bride. ' The couple traveled to, the coast on their wedding trip the bride wearing for travel ing a black sheath dress with black and white jacket. They are making their home at 1569 Oak street, apartment 1, Eugene. , The bride attended Park rose High school, Portland, and is employed by Pacific Telephone and Telegraph company in Eugene. Mr. Ly ons is a graduate of Medford High school and is employed by the Little Big Y Market in Eugene. f . .
