" "' ' ' Chong Lyo Lh Korean Students To Wed in East Of interest to valley resi dents is the approaching wed ding of Miss Chong Hyo Lee, daughter of Dr. In Sook Lee, Seoul, Korea, to Young II Shin, former Medford resident now attending Harvard uni versity. The wedding is planned for "Wednesday "June 10, at Phil lips Brooks house, Harvard university, with a reception to follow. Mr. Shin is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ryn Kwan Shin, Seoul, and lived in Medford four summers at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ward Lampkin, 944 Alta street. The young man arrived in tins country four years ago as a foreign ministerial student sponsored by the Presbyterian Synod for study at Lewis and Clark college. During his studies there and at Harvard heJias received financial as sisSnce from the Presbyter ian Men's club in Medford and from the church's Sunday school department. During his summers in the valley he was employed by Elk Lumber company and was a Presby terian Sunday school teacher, working in the junior depart ment. During his second year at Harvard he received a Dan forth Fellowship grant from the university. Mr. Shin is currently working towards his doctor's degree. Miss Lee, a pianist, will graduate from the New Eng land Conservatory of Music, Boston, this week. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd D. Tay lor, Boston, will sponsor the wedding. Shower Honors Sandra Farlow; June Rites Set Shady Cove-Trail Mrs. j Gene Weitman, Shady Cove,' was hostess Friday, May 29, for a bridal shower honoring Miss Sandra Farlow, Medford. Miss Farlow's marriage to Dick Schauble, Shady Cove, is set for June 23 at the Eagle Point Community church. She is the daughter of Mrs, Fred Farlow, Medford, and her fi ance is the son of Mr. ad Mrs. Jack Schauble, Shady Cove. Both are graduates of Eagle Point High school. The cake served was made by Mrs.. Weitman and decor ated in the wedding motif by Mrs. Kenneth Oliver. Games were played during the eve ning with prizes won by Mrs. liver, Mrs. Lewis Dusen berry, Mrs. Ed Learning, -Mrs. Max Hawks and Miss Farlow. Refreshments were served following the opening of the many gifts. Fulton, all Butte Falls. Mrs. Fulton is visiting her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Berge and family in Chico while the Rensens visit Mr. Remsen's parents, Mr. - and Mrs. Ru dolph Logstrup, Oakland. ' Both the Remsens and Ful tons are former Oakland res idents and will visit friends before returning. Mr. and Mrs. Ben Fulton and grandson, Dan Remsen, will return to Chico the next week end when ai family re union will be held at the Berge home. The Fultons and Dan will return to Butte Falls the next week. , Ceremonies Held By Scottish Rite For Reunion Class The current 'reunion of Medford Scottish Rite bodies was climaxed Saturday night when a large class of candi dates witnessed the ritualistic ceremonies. The 32nd degree of Scottish Rite Freemasonry was presented at 8 p.m. in the Masonic temple. Carl H. W. Oestreich and cast, under the direction of John J. Ken nedy, took charge of the rit ualistic work. William H. Lush, 33rd de gree, of the Eugene Scottish Rite bodies, was speaker for the evening. A no-host dinner preceded the degree work. No date has been set for the wedding. Group Attends . Ballet Program Mr. and Mrs. Paul Bulkin and daughter, Miss Natasha Bulkin, left for San Francisco Thursday where they' attend ed the opening performance of the Bolshoi ballet company Friday night at the San Fran cisco Opera house. The Rus sian company, considered the most famous ballet troupe in the world, has been playing to overflow audiences in New York City and other centers of the United States. . The Bulkins also attended the formal supper which fol lowed the ballet, "Giselle." The supper and reception was given by the San Francisco Ballet guild in honor of the 120 Russian dancers, musi cians, managers and others of the troupe. The dancers in clude Galina Ulanova, con ceded by critics and balleto manes to be the world's su preme ballerina. Mrs. George Rode and Mrs. Bren H. Starcher of Medford left last evening for the Bay city and tonight will attend the final performance of the Russian dancers. The Bulkins are remaining in California for a few days as guests of Mr. and Mrs. John Sandell, former Jack sonville residents now living in Albany, Calif. Luncheon Honors School Faculty Glenn Linn, principal, and the faculty of McLoughlin Junior High school were hon ored guests at a smorgasbord luncheon prepared and served Thursday noon in the school cafeteria by members of the executive board of McLough lin Parent Teacher association. The luncheon is an annual event given by the PTA par ents to express their appre ciation to Mr. Linn and the faculty of the school. ! Invited guests included su perintendent of schools, Dr. Leonard Mayfield, and Assist ant Superintendent Elliott Becken. Also invited were Mrs. Linn and Mrs. Alva Wright, newly installed pres ident of McLoughlin PTA. Mrs. Bill Rambo, in behalf of McLoughlin PTA, present ed Mr. Linn with a brass desk set as a token of appreciation for his service to the school and McLoughlin PTA. The event, held at Rogue Valley Country club, observed the Dietrich's golden wedding an niversary. . Seventy guests called be tween one and five o'clock. An arrangement of gold 6 o 1 p r e d chrysanthemums, bronze carnations, white stock and golden gladiolus centered the serving table. Mrs. Jesse Dietrich poured, and Mrs. Joe Howard, Mrs. Robert Sparks and Mrs. Allan Bickford cut the anniversary cake. For the reception Mrs. Diet rich wore a "blue flowered print frock with gold colored orchid corsage. Young Adults To Give Party 'v A Monte Cano party will be held at the YMCA Satur day, June 13, at 8 p.m. by the Young Adult's group to celebrate the end of the school year and to acquaint new members with the group's ac tivities. Graduate Given Voiture Award Miss Charlene Rae Hubler, a member of the 1959 Med ford High school graduating class, has been awarded a $300 nurses training scholar ship by the Jackson county voiture of the 40 and 8. Miss Hubler, who is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Har old Hubler, 926 Park street, .will start training in Septem ber at Sacred Heart hospital in Eugene. She is the second girl to receive a scholarship from the local voiture. Since the organization of the 40 and 8, after World War I, thild training was added to the na tional program. Don Wilson is chairman of the local voiture nurses train ing committee; ne is assisted by Ed Russell. Jackson county chapter of the Oregon Nurses association assists the 40 and 8 in select ing a girl for training. Mrs. Joe Beach, Mrs. Clark Ander son and Mrs. Lee Jacobs are members of the nurses com mittee. ' ' St. Elizabeth's Guild Plans Picnic Friday St. Elizabeth's Guild of St. Mark's Episcopal church will hold a potluck picnic Friday, June 12, at 11:45 a.m. Mem bers and guests are to meet at the church and will travel to the home of Mrs. Roger Smooth, Yank Gulch road. " 1 Mrs. Geneva Beer Home From Arizona Mrs. Geneva Beer, former Welcome Wagon hostess, re turned to the valley last week after spending four months in Phoenix, Ariz. While there she made trips to places of interest in the state and visited with a num ber of former Medford resi dents. She was a guest of Mrs. George Harrington for' lunch eon at the Arizona Country club, where Mr. Harrington is manager, and visited the Harringtons' new home. Mrs. Beer visited Grand Canyon National park, Las Vegas and Reno.
