Christmas Parties Slated The calendar is filled this week with traditional Christ mas parties planned by clubs, lodges and other organizations. Members of some groups will exchange small gifts, while others will prepare to distribute gifts to the less fortunate. Medford Sojourners will hold their Christmas party Thursday, December 11, at 12:30 p.m. at the Girls Com munity club. A gift exchange will follow refreshments. Women new to Medford and vicinity in the past two years are invited to attend. A potluck luncheon and gift exchange is to be held by Roxy Garden club Wednes day, December 10 at the Rob ert Stokes home, route 3, box 86A, Foothills road. Members are asked to bring table serv ice. The meeting will begin at 10 a.m. with Mrs. C. C. Hoo ver demonstrating tin craft. Everyone is to take tin snips, long nose pliers and a one pound coffee can. Ideas on Christmas decorations to be made at home will be welcomed. Medford Altrusa club will hold its annual Christmas party- Thursday, December 11, at 7:30 p.m. at the home of Dr. and Mrs. S. Ralph Dip pel, 1 Eastwood drive. Host esses for the evening will be Mrs. Dippel, Miss Lotus Eaton, Miss Grace Stuhr and Miss Ruth Kilbourn. A display of dolls dressed by members of the club for the ,Medford Lady Lions' Christmas project will be fea tured. Members are also to bring donations of canned foods to be turned over to the Salvation Army for the Christmas- baskets to be dis tributed by that agency -to needy families in Jackson county. Oregon Nurses' association. District 4, will hold a Christ mas party Wednesday, De cember 10 at 8 pan. at Girls Community club. . All registered nurses are invited. They are asked to bring contributions for a Christmas basket at this time. Medford Nei ghbors of Woodcraft will hold their an nual Christmas homecoming dinner at the Eagles hall Mon day, December 8, at 6:30 p.m. A musical program will be eiven. Each member is reminded to take a eift to exchange. A business meeting will follow. Meeting, Dance Planned by Club Griffin Creek Mothers' club will meet Friday, December 12, at 7:30 pjn. Mrs. Gladys Todd, one of the teachers with the Jackson County Board of Christian Education, will pre sent the Christmas story. A short business meeting will be held and refreshments will be served by mothers of sixth grade children. A dance will follow for club members and their husbands in the evmnasium with music by Mrs. Sherley Gay Christen- sen and her five piece dance band. The dance will be held from 9 until 12 p.m. Program Announced For Retired Teachers A Christmas Droeram is planned for a meeting of Jack .son County Retired Teachers'. association in Ashland, Mon day. December 8, at the home of Mrs. Amos Willits, 129 Al mond street, at 1:30 pjn. An exchange of gifts is ulanned. No. 354, Route 2, Grants Pass, for the annual Christmas dinner and party, It is set for Sunday, Decem ber 14, at 1 p.m. Each member is requested to take an exchange gift and Medford members are to take salads or desserts for the din ner, i Meeting Planned By Mothers' Club West Side Mother's club will meet Wednesday, Decem ber 10, at 7:45 p.m. in the school cafeteria. Following the business meeting the mothers will work on Christ mas stockings for the students under the direction of Mrs. John Dickson, chairman. The Christmas stockings will be given to all the pupils of West Side school at the annual Christmas program to be held later in the month. Hostesses for the evening will be Mrs. John Fleeger, Mrs. Herman Gegner and Mrs. James Hirte. Phoenix Garden Club Announces Meeting Phoenix Phoenix Garden club will meet Friday, Decem ber 12, at the Community club building. A potluck luncheon will be served at noon and members are to take their own service. Mrs. Warren Kelso will demonstrate gift wrapping during the program. Extension Units to Hold Parties, Demonstrations Five home extension units have scheduled meetings this week throughout the county. Tuesday, December 9, the Oak Grove unti will hold its annual Christmas party at the home of Mrs. Kenneth Williams, 1060 Stewart ave nue, at 10:30 a.m. Mrs. Gerald Parsons and Mrs. Robert Hub bard will assist the hostess. Luncheon will be prepared by Mrs. Paul Larsen, Mrs. William Driskill and Mrs. Walter Wilson. Members are reminded to take favorite hol iday cookies and recipes for exchange. A small gift exchange of homemade or mexpensive items will also be held. Taylor will re view the book "Historic Ore gon" by Phillip H. Parrish at the Howard Home Extension unit meeting Thursday, De cember 11, at 10:30 a.m. at the home of Mrs. Jack Camp bell, 3252 Brusell road. Mrs. L. C. McCay will assist the hostess. Members are reminded to take food items for a Christ mas baskt and articles for the display table of their Christ as well as aprons and dec orations, which they have made for the holidays. Griffin Creek Home Exten sion unti members will see a display of Christmas goodies such as candies and cookies as wetll as aprons and dec orated candles when they meet Friday, December 12, at 11 a.m. at the Griffin Creek Grange Hall. There will be a gift ex change at the meeting and those attending are remind ed to take groceries and 25 cents to apply, on a turkey for a needy family.
