Engagement Told In Cave Junction Cave Junction-The engage ment of Miss Karen Berkner to Larry Farmer, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Ingle of Orick, Calif., has been an nounced by her mother, Mrs. Olive Berkner. The bride-elect is a student at Illinois Valley High school and will graduate in the spring. Her fiance has been working for the Byersdorff and Miller Logging Co., since he completed his service with the U.S. Navy. The wedding is planned for next spring. Family Leaves After Visit Here Mrs. Bruce McDonald and three children, Terry Lou, Susan Ann and David Patrick, of Paradise, Calif., left today for their home following a visit with her mother, Mrs. Fred Rankin here. Mr. Mc Donald drove north from Eu reka for the family. Van Horn, November 28. Hostesses for the party were Mrs. Les ter Hartley and Miss Barbara Swanson. Silver wedding bells and pink and white chrysanthe mums were used in the decor. The table was covered with a handmade lace table cloth belonging to the bride's broth er and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. A. D. Van Horn Jr., which was crocheted by the bride's grandmother, Mrs. J. B. Tilley. The wedding cake, made by Mrs. Oscar Swanson, was cut and served by Mrs. John Cimfl. Miss Barbara Swanson presided at the punch table and Mrs. Lester Hartley served the coffee- Mrs. Eloy Sutton was in charge of the entertainment. Guests were Mrs. Adrain VanHorn Jr., Mrs. Carl von Buskirk, Mrs. John C. Cimfl, Mrs. A. D. The wedding will be held Satur day, December 13, at Pros pect Community hall at 7 o'clock in the evening. James W. Mr. Gregory attended Ore gon Technical Institute, Klam ath Falls, and is employed by the United States forest serv ice at the Prospect ranger station. 4 : Temple Members To Hold Meeting, Holiday Party Zuleima temple, Daughters of the Nile, will hold the De cember meeting and Christ mas party, Saturday, Dec. 13 at the Grants Pass Masonic temple at 1 p.m. Dessert will be served at 1:15 p.m. by the chorus. A June wedding is planned. t Former Agent Director For Iranian School Miss Eula Wintermote, for mer Jackson county home demonstration agent now working with the Near East Foundation in Tehran, Iran, has written to say that her present position is chiefly that of directing women's ac ticities in a girls' school at Galeh-nou. About 50 girls are now in attendance at this school where Iranian girls are trained for elementary grade teaching, extension work, and work in community de velopment. As graduates of the school commence work in the field, Miss Wintermote is also responsible for on-the-job supervision. A car and driver are provided. " . Sunday work is required, she reports, with Friday, the Moslem sabbath, the day of leisure. ' . Miss Wintermote writes that there is an active social program among the Ameri cans stationed in Tehran and that she has already met Mrs. Delmer Dooley (Thalia Doty of Medford) at several dinner parties- Before leaving for Tehran, Miss Wintermote was award ed a citation for distinguished service in the field of home economics by the National Home Demonstration Agents' association. . .. The bride wore a turquoise colored tailored dress with black accessories. The Fricks are making their home in Central Point. Mrs. Frick is employed at the Big Y restaurant and Mr. Frick works for the Nye and Naumes Packing company. Wilson, ex ecutive secretary of the Jack son County chapter, American Red Cross, is attending a con ference of managers from Washington and Oregon in Portland this week end. Spa cer Ehrman from the nation al training council is leading the sessions in analysis of strengths and weaknesses in recruitment and training of volunteers.
