(Lois) Young, formerly of Medford, was the house guest of Mrs. Effie Kurtz last week while attend ing he PEO convention, o Wednesday, Mrs. Kurtz en tertained at a luncheon in honor of Mrs. Young at which two other former Medford friends of both were present. They are Mrs. Gray Thomp son, Pendleton, Ore., and Mrs. Dorothy Gore Davis, Ta coma. Wash. Other guests were Mes dames Herbert Sims, M. E. Olson, Wayne Troxell, Mable Sims, Arjiold Bohnert, Eloise Winklebleck and Elenor Ham ilton, and Miss Joe Kirtley. Mrs. Young returned to her home in Seattle Thursday. Mrs. Bearden is the former Agda Esther Spence, daugh of Mrs. Viola Hamilton Spence, 70 Haskell street, Cen tral point and the late Alvia Joseph Spence. Mr. Bearden is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy E.Bearden, John Day, Ore. The ceremony was held at the home of a Baptist minister in Reno at 3:30 o'clock in the afternoon. The bride is a graduate of Crater Hjgh school. Mr. Bear den attended Burns Union High school in Burns, Ore., and University of Arizona, Tuscon. He is employed by the Southern Pacific company. Medforcl Nazarene Church Scene of Wedding Service First Church of the Naza rene was the setting Thurs day, June 12, for the 7:30 o'clock evening wedding of Miss Marie Johnson and Har ry Maine. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs Thomas Jefferson Johnson, 1478 Morrow road, Medford Mr. Maine is . son of Mr. and Mrs. O.' L. Maine, Par ma, Idaho. The Rev. Raymond Hum officiated at the ceremony 'at tended by 150 relatives and friends. Mrs. Arnold Korn- stad played the traditional Miss Kay McCorkle McCorkles Tell Betrothal News Eagle Point Mr. and Mrs. Dwight W. McCorkle, Eagle Point, announce the engage ment of their daughter, Kay, to Samuel R. Ready, son of Mr. and Mrs. James B. Ready of Port Orchard, Wash. Miss McCorkle is a graduate of Eagle Point High school and. has completed her junior year in business education at Oregon State college. Mr. Ready is a graduate of Oregon State college, majoring in for estry, and is employed by the United States forest service at McCloud, Calif. No date has been set for the wedding. They wore lime green nylon chiffon frocks with white accents and car ried white Dutch iris. Little Shirley Hughes, Days Creek, was flower girl for her aunt, Candlelighters were Rhoda Serry and Cheryl Stewart, Terrel Samuels, Parma, Idaho, served as best man while Victor Maine, Wallace, Idaho, brother of the bride groom; Jerry Anderson, El win Paulson, Gold Hill; and Don Mathias, brother-in-law of the bride, seated the guests. Baskets of pink and white gladiolus decorated the church for the ceremony. The reception, given by the bride's parents, was also held in the church. Mrs. W. J. Warner headed the church committee which took charge of reception preparations and serving. Miss Merridee Love was in charge of the guest book. ' " The couple are making their home t in Idaho Falls, Idaho. For her traveling at tire the bride wore a green taffeta dress. The bride attended North west Nazarene college and is a school teacher with the Gold Hill school district. Mr. Maine is a student at North west Nazarene college and will also be employed at Arco, Idaho. Bates, 1260 Sunset avenue, Medford, became the bride of Robert "" Hershel Boyle, 422 South Riverside avenue, Medford, in a cere mony held Saturday, June 14, in Ashland. The- Rev. Leo Wine of Faith Tabernacle officiated at the 2:30 o'clock ceremony held at the church parsonage Twelve relatives and friends of the couple attended, The bride wore a pink suit with white accessories and rose corsage. She was attend ed by Mrs. Hubert E. Jones, Hubert E. Jones served as best man. The bride attendee! Med ford schools. Mr. Boyle, at tended Prospect schools and is. employed by California Oregon Power company. They are making , their home at 1260 Sunset avenue here. . Kerby Bethel Holds Ceremony " Cave Junction Mrs. Dan Piper Vas installed guardian of Bethel 36, International Order of Job's Daughters, at a meeting in the Masonic tem ple, Kerby. A no-host dinner at the Todelope cafe preceded the ceremony; Mrs. E. O. Goodnough, Eugene, grand guardian, was honored guest. Honored Queen Diana Strohkirch presided at the meeting. Among the . guests intro duced were Miss Sylvia Mor ris and Miss Micke Noble, princesses; Miss Carla Bor ough, marshal, and Miss Julie Yoakley, Bethel 14; Miss Bar bara Gordon, junior princess, Bethel 55; Mrs. C. D. Elhart, past grand guardian; Mrs. J. C. Suit, grand ' marshal, and L. H. Manning, grand outer guard, all Medford. Mrs. Goodnough was instal ling officer, assisted by Mr. Manning, Mrs. Elhart, Mrs. Suit and others. Mrs. Goodnough announced a school of instruction for guardian council members and Job's Daughters Satur day, September 13, in Eu gene. Miss Beverly Sowell was presented a proficiency certif icate and a gift from the beth el. Mrs. Piper was presented a guardian's pin, and Mrs. Homer Snider a past guardi an's pin. Lester Hoff , new as sociate guardian, and Mr. Sni der, retiring associate guardi an, also received pins. Miss Sandra Piper and Miss Sowell sang. Refreshments were served by the Misses Sowell, Toni Whitely, their mothers and Mrs. Strohkirch. ' Installation Set By Garden Clubs Mrs. A. O. Floyd will be installing officer at installa tion ceremonies Tuesday, June 24, of Howard and Roxy Ann Gardeners. The event will be a joint meeting and picnic din ner at the home of Mrs. C. C Hoover.
