The committee recommended that Round Red varieties be of 178. inches minimum diameter with a maturity tolerance of 10 per cent for spuds having more than 50 per cent missing or feathered skin. For the White Rose variety a minimum size of five ounces was recommended for U. S. No. 2's. For U. S. No i's and better a minimum size of two inches with a maturity tolerance of 21 per cent was suggested The grade and size of Russets and Early Gems was set at U. S. No. 2 or better with a minimum size of two inches. Maturity tol erance of 10 per cent for pota toes with 50 per cent or more of the skin missing or feathered also was suggested. Sutherlin Plant To Close Down Friday Roseburg W Martin Bros. Container and Timber Products Corp. today announced indefi nite closure of its Sutherlin, Ore., operations, effective to morrow. About 90 men were due to be laid off, 70 of them immediately. But a company spokesman said every effort would be made to absorb as many as possible at the larger Oakland, Ore., opera tions of the firm. Officials said the closure would be for an indifinite pe riod, "due to general market conditions."
