Grass Fire Central Point Rural firemen extinguished a 13-acre grass fire East of Oak dr. off Table Rock rd. about noon yesterday. Firemen said the blaze started from a trash fire. Medford firemen also were summoned and found the fire to be outside the Medford rural district. They provided water for a tank fill for a Central Point rural truck and stood by until the fire was under con trol. Medford firemen put out a : grass fire yesterday morning on the property of Robert Shirley, 2043 Orchard Home dr. It cov ered an area of about 50 by 100 feet. Hitler Regime Victim Remembered With Tablet Frankfurt. Germany II? Anne Frank's native city Wednesday observed what would have been her 28th birth day. An organization of German victims of the Hitler regime placed a memorial tablet on the Frank family's house. Anne, her mother and her sister died in a Nazi concentra tion camp in 1944. He was general manager of Ross Lumber company, and had been sales manager for the firm about a year before taking the post six months ago. Born in Colorado He was born in Greeley, Colo.. Sept. 27, 1909. A graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, he had been connected with the lumber industry for about 25 years. He was a member of the Ford Bidwell Lodge AF & AM, the Scottish Rite and Hillah Temple of the Shrine, the Jack son County Shrine club, and the Rogue Valley Country Club. He is survived by his wife, Ms. Flonnie Wooldridge: two children, Michael and Judy: his mother, Mrs. Laura M. Wool dridge, Toledo, Ohio; his father. J. H. Wooldridge, Crawfords ville. Ore.; two sisters, Mrs. Paul V. Dunn, Pittsburgh, Pa., and Mrs. F. J. Conture, Toledo, Ohio. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to the American Cancer So ciety in care of the local post master. Membership Meeting Set for Safety Council The reguiar membership meet ing of the Medford Safety Coun cil will be held Friday noon at the Jackson hotel, according to Aubrey Loper, council presi dent. A report will be given on action of the council relating to the scheduled Public Utilities commission hearing on train speeds in Medford. GRACE GLENN Mount Shasta Mrs. Grace Winifred Glenn, formerly of Ashland, died June 8 at a Mount Shasta, Calif., hospital. Mrs. Glenn, who has made her home in Mount Shasta for the last six months, was born in Minnesota. Oct. 6. 1884. and lived in Ashland for several years. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 15, at 10 a m at Litwiller Chapel in Ashland Interment will be in Mountain View cemetery in Ashland. Arctic Inspection Declared 'Comical' Helsinki, Finland W So viet Party Chief Nikita S. Khru-. shchev said today the idea of an Arctic open skies inspection zone sounded "quite comical." It is ' quite comical to think of an inspection zone in an area of ice and snow," Khrushchev told a final day press confer ence here. He did not elaborate except to say -that the idea of inspec tion zones had not met with ap proval in the West after Russia had proposed a Far East-Alaska-Western U.S. zone at the Lon don disarmament talks. The proposal was an out erowth of President Eisen hower's original "open skies" plan for aerial reconnaissance to detect any buildup for attack by East or West. Boys Questioned in Connection With Fire The origin of a small grass fire Wednesday behind, the Rogue Eouipment Sales com pany, 2920 North Pacific high way, has been determined with the interrogation of three Med ford boys, aged 8. 7 and 5, ac cording to city police. According to police records, the boys said the fire started while they were playing with matches in a field behind the store. They told police they ran home when the fire got out of control. The "Juveniles were re leased to their parents. The fire, which burned about a half an acre, was extinguished by city firemen. One pumper was dispatched to the fire.
