0 o Ghurch and Stage Again Merged by Bishop Company The English theater, as most people know, was born before the altar of the church. The long years of separation between church ad stage is being brought to an end by The Bishop's Com pany, first modern company to reunite the forces of religion and theater. The First Presbyterian and First Methodist churches of Med- O ford will give local residents a chance to share in this exciting reunion. . Alan Paton's "Cry, the Be loved Country" will be present ed at the First Presbyterian church Thursday, January 12 at ""8 p.m. It will star Hollywood's Hai Bokar, in person, and James Wheaton, with a distinguished cast including Merle Harbach, Bill Wahl, Elizabeth Wolfe, Minna Caldwell, Joseph Bellesi, Carl Farrer, Jon Baisch, Phyllis Goodmiller and Craig Beards ley. Return Friday The following night, Friday, at 6 o'clock, "The Devil and Dan iel Webster," by Stephen Vin cent Benet, will be presented at ths First Methodist church. The group will return to the Presby terian church Saturday evening, January 14 to present Christo- Hal Bokar pher Fry's "The Boy with a Club Presidents- To Be Honored At Temple Session A no-hostess luncheon at 12:30 p.m. will precede the stated ses sion of Zuleima temple, Daugh ters of the Nile scheduled for 2 o'clock at the Masonic temple, Grants Pass, Saturday. January 14. The 13 Zuleima Nile clubs and their presidents will be hon ored at the luncheon. Mrs. H. S. Bullock, Grants Pass, is luncheon chairman. Those from Medford who plan to attend are asked to make reservations with Mrs. E. R. Hoppe, telephone 2-9265, by noon Wednesday, January 11. The business meeting will be conducted by Mrs. Raymond Reter, temple queen. Cart," which also starts at 8 p.m. The Bishop's company in cludes six plays in its repertoire and has been in continuous pro duction since 1952. It has con cluded two national tours and is currently on a third which will again be coast-to-coast and extended to 15 months. Adaptation of Paton's novel was made by Phyllis Beardsley, founder of the Bishop's company and former staff member of the Oregon Shakespearean festival at Ashland. B.P. Brothers Meet After 33 Years Mr. and Mrs. Carl Ludwig, 511 Austin street, have been hosts recently to a number of visitors. Among those here were Mr. and Mrs. Frank Ludwig, Bay field, Colo., Mr. Ludwig's broth er and sister-in-law. It was the first time in 33 years that the two brothers had been together. Here during the holidays were the Ludwig's granddaughter, Mrs. Don Stoner, Mr. Stoner and their three sons, Donnie, Bryan and Pat, Torrance, Calif. The couple also visited Mrs. Stoner's brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Math eny, Jacksonville, and other rel atives. Here for the New Year week end were the Ludwig's son and daughter-in-law, Cmdr. and Mrs. Wallace Ludwig and daughters, Sheri and Sandra. The command er is stationed at Treasure Island. The Ludwigs also were guests of Mrs. Ludwig's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Lawrence, Euclid avenue, while here.
