Portland Docks Portland U.R) Four ships IsOperated by the Pacific Mari--lime Association . were idled at Portland docks today as a result of a strike by the CIO American Radio Association. ' Picket lines were established for a brief time at the berths of the four vessels but were with drawn when other maritime unions agreed not to service the ships while the strike was in - effect; . Shipowners said it was pos sible some loading could be completed while the ships were berthed but that it would be im possible to move them pending a settlement of the dispute. Jr.The affected ' vessels here were the Tonsina, Hawaiian Forester, Sulphur Mines and f&T seafarer. r Trio To Be Arraigned On Contempt Charges 'i Portland --flJ.R) Thro Pnrt. land men were scheduled to eo before Federal Judge George xomt nere tomorrow to be ar raigned on federal indictments - charging contempt of Congress. All three are free on $750. bail. ;JThe three are Donald M. Wol lain, former longshoreman; John It. MacKenzie, former chain store manager, and Herbert Simpson, former clerk for a trucking firm. All, three were called as witnesses last summer when the House Un-American Activities Committee held a hearing here. The indictments accuse the trio of refusing to answer questions put to them by committee members and counsel. Indian Hunting Rights Said Lost : ; Portland U.
