Four Ships Idled

Association . were idled at
Portland docks today as a result
of a strike by the CIO American
Radio Association. '
Picket lines were established
for a brief time at the berths of
the four vessels but were with
drawn when other maritime
unions agreed not to service the
ships while the strike was in
- effect; .
Shipowners said it was pos
sible some loading could be
completed while the ships were
berthed but that it would be im
possible to move them pending a
settlement of the dispute.

Forester, Sulphur Mines and

Trio To Be Arraigned
On Contempt Charges

All three are free on $750. bail.

lain, former longshoreman; John
It. MacKenzie, former chain
store manager, and Herbert
Simpson, former clerk for a
trucking firm. All, three were
called as witnesses last summer
when the House Un-American
Activities Committee held a
hearing here. The indictments
accuse the trio of refusing to
answer questions put to them by
committee members and counsel.
