CHRISTIAN SCIENCE "God the Only Cause and Creator,." will be the title of the lesson-sermon at the Christian Science church Sunday. "In the beginning God created the heav en and the ..earth," from Gen esis 1:1, will be the golden text .The wingless insect known as the walking stick looks ro much like a twig that it is all but in visible against a tree. Moody Institute Film Scheduled "The Stones Cry Out," a new Moody Institute of Science film, will be shown at the Central Church of Christ," Friday, Dec. 10, at 7:30 p.m The story of the film concerns " the old walled city of Jerusalem, Petra, ancient Babylon and Tyre. To make the film, Dr. Irwin Moon, director of the Moody Institute of Science, went to the Near East accompanied by the narrator, Dr. William Culbert son, president of the institute. The film lesson points up the fact that as the great cities which are shown with hanging gardens, temples carved out of the cliffs and mountains, and thriving seaports "forgot moral and spiritual values, and their power and wealth dried up." To remain a great nation, "we Americans must not forget to keep God in our lives , if we want to remain the great nation we are," is the lesson contained in the film, the advance releases explain. " On The Side By E. V. Durling ' Distributed by King Features Syndicate, Inc.) TO love and remember That is good, . To love and forget ' That is not well. To lapse from love to hatred, : That .is helL . Christina Rossetti. Do you v know a couple in which both husband and wife are red-haired? How are they do ing? It has been claimed , that the marriages having the best chance of success and least iiKe ly to end in the divorce court are those in which both hus band and wife are redheads. ;,: Sauerkraut . You can have my share of sauerkraut.. However, I won't deny it is very good for the health. In fact, one medical ex pert referred to sauerkraut as "the vacuum cleaner . of the stomach." Sauerkraut did not originate in Germany but in China. The Chinese used it to furnish the vitamins lacking in a rice diet. Warning r A theater fire usually results in ereat loss of life. Unless smokine is stopped in those New York legitimate stage theaters, where it is prohibited by law, a horrible disaster may result. The operators of the theater would be liable to arrest on criminal negligence. They would also be sued for many thousands of dollars. The Broadway show shop maestros would be .wise to hire special officers tostop smoking in prohibited sections of their establishments. -i Please Note Bianca Holmes, ' the distin guished astrologer, once observ ed: "In twenty-five years of re search I have found that seven out of ten women born under Gemini (May 21-June 20) marry more than once and usually up the ladder. That is, they do bet ter each time." - . Those Names "Why doesn't Shirley Povich, the sportscribe co-operate with you in your bitter Campaign No. 988776D?" asks a young woman of Washington, D. G "Why does not he abandon the Shirley and take a man's name, He could call himself Patrick Povich." Answering this query permit me to say Shirley was originally a man's name. There fore, all girls should change their names to something dis tinctly feminine such as Susan, Sonya, Sylvia or Simonetta. Cooking One restaurant boasts it serves "a dinner like grandma used to make." The fact is, that the dinners served by intelligent young wives of today are much better1 than those grandma made. The average grandma knew nothing of balanced diet. She gave grandpa too much .to eat of food that '' wasn't good for him. . The wise modern : wife knows what is good for her' hus band to eat, and how much of it he should consume. Sidelights Ask your, wife -if- she, ever heard of Patricia Wmter. It was Patricia who created the first deodorant and- the first liquid nail polish. In 1929 Patricia sold her cosmetics manuf act u r i n g business for $4,000,000 cash!... George Abe had a heart attack in 1914. However, he took care of himself from then on and lived thirty years 'more! . Members Complete Redecorating Work Members of the First Baptist church have been working for several weeks redecorating and refurnishing the pastor's study.
