Monday, June 19. is the date of the annual election and one director will be named for five years. The term of John P. Moffat expires. Moffat has not informed the city school office of his plans concerning reelec tion. H Three Children Carpenter, born in Medford in 1915. has resided here con tinuously since 1946. He has three children. A' Harvard uni versity graduate in 1937, Car penter was a pilot instructor for the army and later flew for the navy during the war. Eighty-five persons signed Carpenter's petitions. Nominating petitions for school board candidates must be filed at least seven days be fore, the election. Because of the intervening week-end, peti tions here must be filed by Sat urday noon, June 10. A candi date must file acceptance of nomination at least five days before the election. Purpose of the new unit will be to assist with the an nual tuberculosis x-ray prografn and sale of Christmas seals in the Ashland area. Mrs. Cotton was elected presi dent of the branch and will serve for the coming year. She is secre tary of the countv chapter and a member of the executive com mittee. For the past throe years she has been in charge of the Ashland x-ray program. Tho si'oup elected Mrs. Don ald McDougail secretary - treas urer. She will also serve on the executive board. Members Cooperate Although there has not been an active branch in Ashland for some time, a number of local residents have cooperated with the county organizations which meets regularly at Mediord. Mrs. Erne! Stearns has been in charge of compiling the Ashland Christ mas seal mailing list and Mrs. Robert Stough has served as secretary-treasurer. Both have as sistted with the monthly baby clinics here. At the meeting, Miss Frances Clink, Jackson county nurse, de scribed her work and its rela tion to the Jackson County Health association. Rogue River Budget Election Due June 5 Rogue River, June 3 An elec tion to be held at the Grange hall June 5. to ratifv the city budget for the coming year. The budget is SI 300 less than last year. He buzzed In last Thursday from San Francisco and has been busy all of the days and part of the nights with William "Bill" Clegg, manager of Camp White's canteen. Tnis Grants Pass lawyer, Kid from WW II and state commander of the Ameri can Legion, delivered a masterly oration, in honor of Penland, last national commander of the Grand Army of the Republic. It will be long remembered by those who heard it. Sam's dad was stationed at Fort Stevens at the time and he declares himself a real product of Clatsop county.
