Pickett. Lake Oswego, Ore. The Pickatts hav lived In Medford since 1919. Picketts Honored At Family Party On Golden Wedding Mr. and Mrs. L. F. Pickett, 206 Portland avenue, were hon ored guests in the Lake Os wego home of their .son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce F. Pickett, May 23 on their fiftieth wedding anniver sary. The affair was also at tended by their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. For rest Pickett, Portland. The honored guests had gone to Portland the week preced ing to spend some time visiting their sons and wives. The L. F. Picketts were mar ried ii, Rodney, la., later mak ing their home in Minneapolis. Minn. In 1907 they moved from Minneapolis to Merrill. Klamath county. Ore. GREEN STAMPS Plan Style Week In San Francisco; To Award 'Oscars' San Francisco In honor of San Francisco's famous fashion industry the week of June 11th has been proclaimed "Style Cen tennial Week" by Mayor Elmer E. Robinson (concurrent with Fall Market Week June 11-13) as an appropriate tribute to the industry's 100th sucessful year. The promotion, launched by the Manufacturers and Wholesalers association of San Francisco, has been given additional civic im petus by strong support from the San Francisco Chamber of Com merce. San Francisco manufacturers and wholesalers are putting forth their latest and most color ful efforts toward a "Style Cen tennial" fashion show to be held In The Emporium Monday, June 12th at 6:30 p.m. The Emporium, In the impressive dome, will con struct two elevnted runways from each side of the dome which will converge on a cen tral bandstand. Steps leading down from the bandstand will carry the models down to a 200 foot runway over the main floor center aisle. The "Style Centennial" fash ion show will represent a Fall preview of mens and boya sports- j es. robes, children? and teen agers clothes, coats, suits, furs, millinery, formals, bridal gowns and bridal parties. Authentic 1850 gown from the famous de Young Memorial Museum collection will be dls Dlaved aDDropriatelv lending ad ditional flavor to the Centennial theme. Flowers banked along the runways and a string orches tra will provide color and atmosphere. Continuing a market tradition, the association will hold the fittn annual "Oscar' award din ner. Tuesday. June 13th in the Gold Ballroom of the Fairmont hotel. The ' Oscars , fashioned by San Francisco's internation ally known sculptor Benjamin Bu'ffano, will be awarded at a formal banquet and fall fashion show preview, to six men who have made a notable contribu tion In focusing attention on the San Francisco market. Winners this year are T. E. Brooks, chief administrative officer, city and county of San Francisco: E. C. Llpman, president of the Empor ium Capwell corporation; Dan iel E. Koshland, vice-president of Levi Strauss and company: Paul Verdier, president of the City of Paris: Michel D. Weill, president of The White House and Cyril Magnin, vice-president and general manager of Joseph Magnin stores. O. Taylor, 1334 Reddy avenue. Boy Scout News Cub Scout Pack Cub Scout Pack o. 40 held their regular meeting at Central Point I. O. O. F. hall May 23. Mrs. Hester Culbrrt.-nn pre sented the hoys with a beautiful flag. The cubs are vrev proud of their flag and wish to thank Mrs. Culbertson. They hope to prove themselves worthy of such a precious possession. A number of bovs were pre sented with merit badges. Eston Humphrey was appoint ed treasurer. After the meeting a picture, "Cubs in the Den." furnished en tertainment, and refreshments were served. Troop 7 Last Wednesday eveninE Troop 7 held a court of honor and had an anniversary potluck dinner. The troop is now one year old, and has 39 members. Several boys received their one-year pins. Thev Included Ralph Miller, Dick Cave, Waller Garner, Edward Manley, Merlyn Guss, Orlin Stanafield, Bob Tarns, Jack Curry and Wayne Close. Other awards were given to Everett S t r I k 1 e r , tenderfoot badge; Harold Frohrelch, second class, and Orlin Stansfield, star rank. Boys receiving merit badges included Stanley Culy, three; Warren Dcaklns and Or lin Stansfield. Many parents attended the court of honor, w Inch was held at TouYYIle state park. Wayne Close, Reporter. Boy scouts of Troop 9 in Med ford, together with their fam ilies, gathered in Ashland park last Sunday for a picnic dinner in honor of Dr, W. H. Roberts, scout master. Robert D. Church, acting as as spokesman for the group, presented a scout statu ette to Dr. Roberts and ex pressed appreciation of Roberts' efforts as scoutmaster.
