Sams Valley Group Holds Installation; Health Clinic Planned Sams Valfey New officers of the Sams Valley Parent-Teacher association were recently install ed by Mrs. Ben Day, past pres ident of the Jackson County Council of Parents and Teachers. Installed were Mrs. Jean Smith, president; Mrs. Lindsey Houston, vice president: Mrs. Amos Gomsby, secretary; Mrs. Lester James, treasurer. Mrs. Arnold Neace, outgoing pres ident was presented a pin. Mrs. Milton Sanderson, health chairman, announced that there would be a health clinic with Dr. A. Erin Merkel in charge, Monday, June 5 at 1 p.m. in the school house. Visit Daughter Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd M. Jones, Sherwood, Ore., visited their daughter. Miss Muriel Jones, 826 East Main street, from Monday through Friday. The party spent Wednesday until Friday fishing at Diamond lake. Mrs. Jones is active in the American Legion auxiliary and was state chairman of the annual poppy poster contest this year. To Install Installation of officers will be iheld at the final meeting of Howard Extension unit members Thursday, June 8 at 1 p.m. in the home of Mrs. Stocks, Old Pacific highway. Any Mrs. Belknap Returns From Extended Visit Mrs. L. F. Belknap, who left here in October to make an ex tended visit in northern Oregon and Washington state, returned Monday to remain here during the summer. During the week, Mrs. Bel knap has been a guest of Mrs. Jessie Minear, Route 1. While away, Mrs. Belknap visited a brother in Waterville, Wash., relatives in McMinnville, and also spent some time in Portland and Eugene. Reports and Initiation On Rebekah Program Convention reports and initia tion will be on the program for the meeting of Olive Rebekah lodge set for Monday at 8 p.m. in the IOOF hall. Guests are expected from Ker by and Ashland lodges, and oth er visiting members are wel come, it is stated. Refreshments will be served, and members not contacted are asked to bring sandwiches. Mrs. Doty Hottest For FL Meeting Mrs. Fredene Doty, 726 King street, was hostess recently to FL club members. Final plans were made at the meeting for on invitational card party June 12. Mrs. George M. Watson was awarded the evening's prize. Next meeting of the group will be held in the Girls' Com munity club June 12. Home From East Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Car penter, Veritas orchards, re turned last week from a motor trip to the east. They had been ! gone for over two months. In Boston they visited relatives, and in New York they spent some time with Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Ruhl of Medford. Ore., are now living in Medford at 516 -South Ivy street. The bride is the former Miss Donna Caro lyn Mullarky, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Mullarky of Burns, and the bridegroom is a son of Garfield B. Ferris of Medi cine Hat, Alta., Canada. The service took place at St. Andrew's Episcopal church, with the Rev. Arthur Beckwith read ing the ceremony. . The bride's gown was of white velva-ray designed with full skirt and train and a white satin cap edged with orange blossoms held her three-quarter length il lusion veil. She carried valley lilies. Miss Barbara Lee Miller, maid-of-honor, wore an orchid nylon net and taffeta gown and car ried a nosegay of pink roses and pink sweetpeas with a headdress of pink rosebuds. Bridesmaids were Miss Ardis Newholm of Portland and Miss Allene Sitz. Their dresses matched that of the maid-of-honor and both car ried nosegays of pink and white sweetpeas. Wendell Mason of Eugene was best man for Mr. Ferris and ush ers were Richard Gillespie and William Breighton, both of Eu gene. A reception In the guild hall of the church followed the cere mony. Mrs. H. A. Dillard and Mrs. Lee Miller cut and served the wedding cake and Mrs. Mor gan O. Timms and Mrs. Robert Clay poured. Miss Ruth Miller took charge of the guest book and others assisting were Mrs. W. M. Bennett and Miss Gladys Holland. The bride was graduated from the University of Oregon, and is a member of the university chap ter of Delta Zeta sorority. For the past six months she has been employed in the classified adver tising department of the Eugene Register-Guard. Her father, co publisher of the Burns Times Herald, was at one time secre tary of Gov. Earl Snell. Mr. Ferris is sales representa tive for the White King Soap company. Pythian Sisters Plan Meetings During Week Pythian Sisters will h o 1 d a regular business meeting Tues day, June 6 in the Pythian building at 8 p.m. Past Chiefs' club will meet at Jackson Hat Springs for a cov ered dish luncheon Wednesday, June 7 at 1 p.m. Those attending are also asked to take coffee and serv ice. For transportation, members should call Mrs. Bill Ireland, phone 2-4219. From Scotland Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Webster, Arbroath, Scotland, have been guests at the Paul Culbertson home, Old Stage road, during the past two weeks. The Web sters, who have been in this country since April 3, will leave Monday for" their home in Scot land. It will convene from June 4 through June 9 under the direction of Mrs. C. L. Kettle, supreme reigning queen, whose home is in Salt Lake City, A bus was chartered for mem bers of the Nile patrol, and vari ous officers ana oiner memoers are making the trip by motor. The patrol is captained by Mrs. Joe Hearin, Medford. Officers making the trip are Mrs. C. L. Ogle, Grants Pass, queen of Zuleima temple; Mrs. Stephen Moss. Games were played at the lawn party and balloon favors were given the small guests. Traditional birthday cake was served.
