MAIL TRIBUNE Miss Ruth Beers' Wedded Recently To Donald Nimrod Among recent weddings was that of Miss Ruth Beers of Med ford to Donald Nimrod which took place May 6 at the home of the bridegroom's parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Hanson of 308 Hersey street in Ashland. Elder Carroll Smith of the Church of Latter Day Saints officiated at the ceremony, read In front of a flower-banked fireplace. The bride wore a suit of grey plaid with accessories of red and navy blue and her corsage was of white orchids. Mrs. Dewey Spence of Grants Pass, matron-of-honor, wore a suit of grey gabardine and her corsage was of red rosebuds. Mr. Spence was best man for the bridegroom. A reception followed the ser vice, with Mrs. Burton Hyde, sister of the bridegroom and Mrs. E. O. Fulgham serving refreshments. For the wedding and reception the bridegroom's mother wore a suit of pale green gabardine with brown accessories. The bride is on the staff of the United States National bank in Medford and the bridegroom is with the Ashland Tidings. The couple is living at 11 'i Nutley street in Ashland following a wedding trip into Washmgtoi and Canada. Medford Delegation Attends Encampment; State Officers Named A number of Medford women attended the first encampment of the Royal Military Order of Lady Bugs held in bpringfield Ore., May 27 and 28. The dele gation included Mrs. Kichard E. Schulz, royal lady katydid; Mrs. Fred Lawrence, royal bumble- foot; Mrs. Eleanor Sawyer, royal team letter T: Mrs. Fern Rost, letter R; Mrs. O. O. DeBerrv and Mrs. Helen Johnston, delegates. Mrs. Wilma Kile, mvstic ladv gold bug and Mrs. Helen Aris. 'official busybody," both of Kan sas City, Mo., were present for the encampment. Mrs. Kile spoke of member ship, hospital work of the order and of the home at Eaton Rapids, Mich., for widows and orphans of veterans. She also brought news of the national encamp ment, which will be held in Chi cago August 28-30. The bride is the former Miss Ruth Beers of Medford. Couple Visits Relatives In City Over Week-End Mr. and Mrs. Clifford T. Kirkland, Hermiston, have re turned to their home after visit ing here during the Memorial day week-end. At Union Creek they visited Mr. Kirkland's son and family, the Gordon Kirk lands. In Medford they visited Mrs. Kirkland's (laughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Robert W. Hawkins, 920 North Central avenue. Mrs. Kirkland is the former Mrs. Maude Brault, who at one time lived in Medford and who has many friends here. Program Announced For WCTU Meeting Mrs. Eva Low, chairman for temperance and missions, will present a program at a meeting of Woman's Christian Temper ance union In the Girls Com munity club at 2 p.m.. Thursday. Mrs. Edna Purcell, director for the flower mission work, will also present a program. There will be devotionals and special music. Mrs. I r a E. McDonald and committee will serve refresh ments. Anyone wishing to at tend is Invited to do so. Woman's Bible Clan To Meet Thursday The Woman's Bible class of the Methodist church will meet Thursday, June 8 with Mrs. Ira Jones on Stcwnrt avenue. A cov ered dish luncheon will be serv ed at noon. Those attending are asked to take n covered dish and service. For transportation, members are to meet not later than 11:45 a.m. at the church. To Iowa Central Point Mrs. Paul Lo sev and daughter. Lorraine, left Thursday night for Des Moines, Iowa, to visit relatives. The trav elers plan to be away a month. The affair was in the form of a farewell party to Mrs. Thurston who has taught the fifth grade at Eagle Point schools for the past six years. Attending were Superintend ent of Schools Glen D. Hale and Mrs. Hale, Principal Hugh Esk ridge and Mrs. Eskridge and children, Virginia, Barbara. The club, organized late in March under the sponsorship of the Medford auxiliary, recently held its third business meeting in Beckie's cafe at Union Creek. Mrs. Ron Gandee, president of the Medford auxiliary; Mrs. Alva Perkins, vice-president; Mrs. Dwight Johnson, secretary: Mrs. Penn Chitwood. treasurer, and Mrs. Larry Necley, a past dis trict governor, came from Med ford to conduct installation of officers and presented the new club a gavel. Elected to office for the new club are Mrs. Al Selby, presi dent: Mrs. Carl A. Larson, vice president; Mrs. James H. Grieve, secretary; Mrs. Lewis Cleven burg, treasurer, and Mrs. Wil lard Mattson, lion trainer. They were presented corsages from the state flower committee. Feldman & Olson Electric Store 237 EAST MAIN Lady Lions Complete Plans For State Convention Here Lady Lions clubs of the valley will complete plans this week for entertaining visitors to the annual state convention of Lions clubs and Lady Lions to be held in Medford June 11, 12 and 13. About 1000 delegates and visitors are expected. Registration is to open Sun day afternoon and that evening a western type barbecue supper is to be served at the football field for both Lions and Lady Lions. Planned for the women are a breakfast Monday morning at the Jackson hotel and a lunch eon and style show at the Rogue Valley County club Mon day noon. Monday night the governors' banquet and ball will be held in the new gymna sium of junior high school. To be honored will be Dr. Floyd Smith of Portland, Mr. and Mrs. Frank White of Gardiner, Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Losee of Roseburg and Mr. and Mrs. Dean Erwln of Pendleton. A golf tournament for the visitors is planned for Monday afternoon at the country club, and there will also be card games for those do do not play golf. Business meetings for the women are set for both Mon day and Tuesday at 9 a.m. in the Craterian theater, and Tuesday noon both groups will gather at the junior high school for the closing luncheon of the convention. Mrs. Ruben Kuratli of Hills- boro, Ore., president of the state auxiliary, will conduct the business meetings. Also here for the sessions will be Mrs. Dean Erwin, Enterprise, first vice-president; Mrs. Al Crose, Hollywood auxiliary, Salem, second vice-president; Mrs. Henry Griffin, Astoria, third vice-president; Mrs. Earl Bow man, Hillsboro. secretary; Mrs. Russell Ide. Washington PTA Unit Plans Party Tuesday For New First Graders About 145 first grade students entering Washington school next tan nave been invited to a w-cl- come-to-school" party at the school Tuesday afternoon, June at l p.m., according to Ken neth Hulburt. principal of the school and Washington PTA of ficers who are jointly sponsor ing the party. Purpose of the orientation party. Mr. Hulburt states, is to acquaint the new students with the school, the teachers and each other so they may feel more se cure upon entering in Septem ber. Mothers have also been invited to attend but any child unable to be accompanied by his mother or father is requested to call Mrs. R. S. Hinman at 2-7004 and ar rangements will be made for transportation. Mrs. Hinman is chairman of the event for the PTA and states that because there are so many new residents in the district the invitation list may not be complete.
