Wayne Morse, H., Ore., wants the senate to set an offi cial watchdog on the Office of price Administration. He introduced a resolution yesterday to create a special seven-man committee which would conduct "a continuing in vestigation of OPA." Morse is one of the agency's strongest critics. Tengwald, 45, whose brother, Carl Y. Tengwald, is a resident of Medford. Cnl. Tengwald has seen five vears of service in both World Wars anfi he wears the Victory Medal for service in World War I: the Europnan-African-Middle Eastern Theatre ribbon with two battle stars; and the Good Con duct ribbon. A lawyer before joining the army, Cpl. Tengwald is a former United States commissioner for the District of Oregon and for mer deputy clerk of the United States district court, District of Oregon. Davis, co pilot, of 631 West Palm street, Medford, Oregon, has been awarded an Air Medal, it was announced by the commanding general of the India China Divi sion, Air Transport command. The award was made upon completion of 150 hours of oper ational flight in transport air craft over the dangerous and difficult India-China air routes, where enemy interception and attack was probable and expected. the Japs from Guadalcanal to China. He entered the AAF in Janu ary, 1942, and received his train ing at Medical Replacement Training Center, Paine Field, Wash., before joining the "Jun gle Air Force" in May, 1942. Bob Jones Bob Jones, signalman, third class, of route 4, Medford, Ore., serving aboard an assault trans port, has participated in the invasions of I wo Jima and Oki nawa. Jonfcs, who attended Med ford senior high school, has been in the navy for. a year and a half. His mother, Mrs. Percy C. Jones, lives in Medford. Paul Galloway Paul Galloway, Gold Hill, recently graduated as a warrant radio electrician from the U. S. Maritime Service Radio Training Station at Boston Harbor, Mass. Galloway is the son of Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Galloway, Gold Hill, and was a laborer at Patton orchards before entering the ser vice. TS Russell Clark With the 11th Field Hospital, Seventh Army in Germany Technician Fifth Grade Russell B. Clark, husband of Mrs. Shir ley M. Clark, Route 2, Box 67, Medford, Oregon, was promoted recently to his present grade from that of Pvt. 1c. He was employed as Dryer Feeder in civilian life, prior to entry in to the military service. Trusty, 429 North Columbus avenue, is one of the members of the 7th Convalescent Hospital, a veteran unit of the ETC- medical front. Their task is caring for wounded Ameri cans and trying to preserve life of those who were victims of the Hitler slave and prison system. Lt. Donald Marshall Randolph Field, Tex. Lt. Donald R. Marshall, 824 Sum mit avenue, Medford, Ore., has arrived at Randolph Field to be gin transitional training as a member of a B-29 Superfortress crew. He is the son of Lt. Cpl. and Mrs. Ray E. Marshal. Sgt. Norman Burreson - Headquarters, 13th AAF, Phil ippines At an advance bomber base in the Philippines, Norman H. Burreson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Pete Burreson, Gold Hill, was promoted to sergeant. Ehrk, Box 24, Med ford, Ore., has been awarded the combat infantry badge for ex emplary performance of duty with the 38th (Cyclone) division in action against the Japanese Shimbu Line, east of Manila. Overseas for three months, Ehrk is a member of Company B, 152nd infantry. Pvt. Eugene Parker Madison, Wis. Pvt. Eugene L. Parker, 18, son of Mrs. Mar garet M. Parker of 302 Crater Lake avenue, Medford, has been enrolled in the AAF Training Command's aircraft radio me chanics school at Truax Field, it was announced by the post commander. He will take an extensive course in servicing radio equip ment used on U. S. bombers and fighting planes and will be trained in defense against chem ical warfare, aircraft identifica tion, and related AAF subjects designed to fit him for combat duty. 19 ON AIRLINER Florence, S. C, July 14 (U.R) A cool-headed commercial pilot was credited today with saving the lives of 19 of his 20 passen gers when his plane and an army bomber collided yesterday 3,000 feet in the air. One of the passengers, a three-year-old boy, , and two of the bomber's crew members were killed. The boy's mother, Mrs. A. E. Williams of New York was injured seriously. The planes collided 20 miles from here. Capt. G. D. Davis of Miami, in command of the East ern Air Lines Boston-to-Miami plane, said they were at 3,000 feet when suddenly there was a grinding crash on the port side of the airliner. The reason, according to Wil-j liam A. McConologua, a soap of-, ficlal, is that no one yet has de vised a successful ration scheme. Surveys conducted by the de partment and the office of price administration show that the in dustry is distributing supplies as fairly as possible through a vol untary program. The govern ment doesn't think it can do any better.
