SOAP RATIONING
T
Washington, July 14 (U.R)
Housewives may be having dif
ficultv buvintr snnn. hut tha gov
ernment has no'immediate plans
for rationing, the agriculture de- j
partment said today.
The reason, according to Wil-j
liam A. McConologua, a soap of-,
ficlal, is that no one yet has de
vised a successful ration scheme.
Surveys conducted by the de
partment and the office of price
administration show that the in
dustry is distributing supplies as
fairly as possible through a vol
untary program. The govern
ment doesn't think it can do any
better.
A recent infestation of cut
worms in Montana recalled the
worst infestation in history
1920 when more than 100,000
acres of wheat were destroyed.
