Mrs. Blanton was here for several days before the mar riage as a guest at the home of the sergeant's mother, Mrs. Ef fie Casebeer of Central Point. Bring own serv- Mildred Carpenter New Buying Aid at Adrienne's Store Mildred Carpenter, formerly associated with several large women's stores in the east, ar rived in Medford recently and has become affiliated with Adrienne's of Medford as assist ant buyer, it was announced to day. Miss Carpenter' has had 20 years of varied experience with wholesale houses and the finer stores in the east, most recently with Sack's Fifth Avenue shop in New York City. She came to Medford to make her home near her sister, Mrs. A. E. Messer of Ashland, and a niece, Mrs. Roy Parr of Talent. Miss Carpenter and Adrienne have been close friends for a number of years. OWEN'S COUSIN AMONG PRISON SHIP VICTIMS Mr. and Mrs. James H. Owen of Siskiyou Heights have just re ceived word of the death of Mr. Owen's cousin, Capt. W. H. Owen, Jr., in the Jap prison ship which was torpedoed last Octo ber by a U. S. submarine. Captain Owen left San Diego, August 28, 1941, for service in the Philippines and was wound ed in the gallant American de fense of Corregidor, so severely that he was spared the notorious death march to the Jap prison camp. He had been a prisoner, however, from that time until his death, and members of the family were able to get very lit tle news concerning him. His father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. W. H.
