Both are former residents and will be greeted by a number of old friends. Beames Return After Vacation J Returning home Tuesday evening were Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Reames, who have been among Medford residents vacationing out of town. They were the guests of Mrs. Reames' mother, Mrs. Edward J. Lan nlng, at her summer home at Gig Barbor In Washington during part of their stay away. They spent a week In Seattle and also visited In Tacoma and other northern points. Mr. and Mrs. Reames were away three weeks. York Vacation On Bust Cruise Mr. and Mrs. Earl Tork returned home Wednesday after a two weeks' vacation In the north. Motoring first to Vancouver, B. C., Mr. and Mrs. York embarked for a nine-day cruise along the Canadian coast to Steward, B. C. They stopped at other points in the northwest be fore returning home. Hale Greenman to Be Wed October 80 Of Interest to Medford friends Is the reoent announcement of .the coming marriage of Miss Harriet Campbell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James A. Campbell of Beaverton, and Hale Qreenman of this city. The announcement was mads last Saturday In Portland when Mrs. M C. Woodard and her daughter, Mrs, William A. Ferrln, were luncheon hostesses at their home. Quiet Week-end Seen for City Quiet relaxation over the Labor Day holiday week-end is In prospect for Medford residents, according to present plans. A few will entertain guests from out of town and others will take short trips to other nearby points. Many will seek outdoor recreation at various resorts of the region, while others are making no arrangements except for a quiet week-end at home Four Attending Racing Event Leaving for the north yesterday were Mr. and Mrs. w. H. Mulrhead and Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Fluhrer, who are attending a mo tor boat racing event at the coast city. Pyles Return From Vacation Mr. and Mrs. H. D. These persons gave four reasons: 1, Italy will not go to Geneva until the question of her Ethiopian con quest la settled. 3. Such a conference has not been officially prepared. 8. It would Interfere with European non-intervention committee work. 4. The time la not ripe for such a meeting. MOSCOW, Sept. 8(AP) Pravda, the communist party newspaper, warned today that the sinking 01 the soviet motorsnlp Tlmlryasev "by an Italian submarine" was a chal lenge to Russian rights on the sea for which "fascist pirates who are going to extremes" must "pay dearly." (The Tlmlryazev was torpedoed and sunk by a submarine last Monday In the Mediterranean off the coast ox Algiers on Its way from Black sea ports to Le Havre and Liverpool. Its attacker was not then Identified.) Pravda's threat was made as a foreword to an entire page of reso lutions by Russian workers' organiza tions deploring 'piracy" against Rus sian shipping. "Great and terrible is the rage ox the soviet people," the newspaper de clared. "This new crime of Italian fascism 1 not only a challenge to the soviet union.
