Returns from lodges of the state Indicate that the convention will be one of the best attended the asso ciation has held for some time, offi cers here said. The program of entertainment and business has been arranged so that the visitors will find something ol Interest every moment of their three days' stay. Climax of the program will be a big family picnic at the Elks picnic grounds on September 26 when games and sports will rule the day. C. E. Gates, general chairman of the convention committee today ex pressed his appreciation to the mem bers of the local lodge who are as sisting in the plans. He urged every member of the lodge to give his sup port-so that the convention visitors will be Impressed by Medford's repu tation of being the most hospitable city in the state. Wholesale markets were helped by urgent re order demand for seasonal merchan dise but many buyers postponed scheduled trips to 'centers until after Labor day, the agency said On the industrial front, produc tion was lowered by mid-week ahut downs at many plants and further curtailment of operations In some consumers' goods divisions. Percentage gains over a year ago Included: Pacific coast 8 to 18. One of the brightest spots In the industrial division was the produc tion of office equipment of all types.
