The two previous ones were tirnd In on courses near Chicago, or at least he has repeatedly told Pro J.v:k Hueston of the Medford golf club that they were. The fact that the hole In one la the toughest thing In golfing Li prov ed by the evidence that In 39 years Driver, a good golfer, has made enly three of them. The fact that no one will believe the feat once It Is ac complished la proved by the evidence that the two ladles with whom he wm playing (snd Hueston refused to give their names for fear of infuriating their husbands, he said yesterday), are the only onee who will believe that he made the shot et ail. And the tact that lady lurk must be smiling when the feat is perform ed Is proved by Driver's own confes sion to Hueston: "By gosh. Jack,' the golfer la quoted aa aaylng. "I wound up on that thing hard enough to split It. but when I came down on It I got the meanest little old gr tink le shot you ever saw. I made the air blue, but a cross wind cleared away enough of that so I could see old lady luck reach out and grab the ball with both hands and toss It into the cup." When Larry Schade. Jeweler, heard ' of the feat he promptly awarded Drlv- i er the Hole-In-Ono trophy, the first j one he has had to divry up this year. . patented rubber mountings that eliminate vibration.
