Innumerable limit catches were made at Fish lake on the opening day, many anglers pulling out the legal 10 fish In less than two hours or fishing. W, F. Isaacs, caught 30 trout In the Rogue near his lpdge yesterday, and his son Dick, landed it trout from the river after working hours. John Oupp, Glen Fabric and party had especially fine luck flshlnc a creek, name of which they refused to reveal today, having Intentions of returning to the same territory. They brought In 60 fish, which weighed the total of 44 pounds. Leland Brophy spent two hours at Fish lake and caught the limit In that time. He reported the fish "positively leaping Into the boat" In their anxiety to be hooked. Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Holloway also found fishing fine at the lake, and announced that anyone can catch them there. Each got the limit and saw but one fisherman, who failed to do the same. (AP) City employe here today found themselves In the position of work ing for warrants that can hardly be disposed of at any price. A grave financial crisis confronts Astoria as a result of a court de cision restraining the city from buy ing salary warrants of Its employes aa Investments for sinking funds. City Attorney James L. Hope said the decision practically calls on city employes to work without pay, with many warrants outstanding In the several sinking funds, those newly Issued would not be called for months. "If the declolon of the court Is carried out," Hope said, "the func tions of city officials, firemen, pol ice, street cleaners and administra tive officers, will cease, unless they are willing to work for the warrants." To Crater Lake Captain John R Murray, commander of the Evans Creek CCC camp, was In Med ford today, and was planning to make a trip to Crater Lake national park, where he will confer with E. C. Sa Unsky, superintendent of the park. CCC camps are to be established at Wineglass and Annie Springs, and Captain Murray's company will oc cupy one of the sites. (AP) The Pendleton Dairymen's association yes- terday unanimously endorsed all activities of the Oregon milk control board. Tom Cunning, board repre sentative, explained the work of the state organization. $36 IN LAW SUIT Arnold Bohnert of the Central Point district was awarded $36 by a clrcut court Jury yesterday in the civil suit of John C. Thorscn, Cen tral Point district farmer, for ap proximately 335 for lass of 1.2C0 bushels of barley by fire last August. The $38 was a counter claim filed by Bohnert. Thorsen claimed that the fire that devoured his barley stack was due toj the friction of a threshing machine belt, operated by Bohnert, against the side of the stack. j Bohnert contended that the fire was caused by somebody carelessly smoking a cigarette around th threshing operations, and his counsel; denied that the belt ljrnlted the grain.! Thorsen hired the Bohnert thresh-! lng outfit to thresh the barley.
