Williams Ladles' club met Wednes day at the home of Mrs. Stella Strat um. It was voted to give an enter tainment the last of October. Next meeting will be with Mrs. R. F. Lew-man. Earl Kennedy and his daughter Ber- dlna are visiting his mother, Mrs. J. E. Mansfield, and his sister, Mrs. Bill Lemmon. HOWARD DISTRICT 38. (Spl.) Mrs. Harold Sutherland 28(8pl.) Mrs. Harold Sutherland spent Wednesday night with Mrs. Archie Sutherland In Medford. M. H. Johnson has returned to his home here, after spending the summer working at Prospect. P.-T. A. met at the school house Friday. The attendance was not large on account. .of the children's fair being held that day. There will be a short business session Friday evening. October 9, followed by a reception for the teachers. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Lorton. who live on the Old Stage Road, called on Mr. and Mrs. James Parke Wednesday. J. B. Fretwell left Monday on a hunting trip to Leland. Harold welbern, Lester Young, Harold Sutherland and Charles Young are spending a few days on the Greensprlngs mountain deer hunting. Mr. and Mrs. Ben Sanders oi Edgton, Wyoming, are visiting their daughter, Mrs. Lester Young. They were accompanied by Mrs. Youngs (trandfathar of Los Angeles. . Mr. and Mrs. T. L. Young people of the Sunday school met Tuesday night at the Ralph Raymond home to practice songs for the Rally Day program October 4. Mrs. Myrtle Smith and children ot Jefferson, Ore., who are now located In Medford, visited the Seabrooke family Thursday evening. Mr and Mrs. Mel Atkins and son. Billy, of Sprague River, are visiting the John Nealon family this week. Mr. and Mrs. Quevle Newman ot Aberdeen, Wn, are visiting relatives here, en route to eastern Oregon. Mrs. Lulu Pendland and brother. Luke Edlngton of Marshfleld arrived Tuesday to visit relatives. Mrs. James Brownlee, leader of the 4H clubs of this district Is pleased that 6 prizes were won by her club members at the recent fair. Table Rock Community club met September 26 with a program and election of officers. The first frost of the season ap peared here Wednesday morning, when melon and tomato vines were nipped. J. R. MacCracken and Mr. Lyttle. prominent farmers of the Talent section were business visitors here the first of the week. With work on the Table Rock drainage district not yet completed a suit for (6000 damage was filed this week by Wm. Byrum, executor for the Byrum estate, whose property Is crossed, by the main drainage canal. The cutting and storing of the last cutting of alfalfa has been completed and apple picking will be finished In a few days. The Win ter Nellls pear harvest will be the next In order, but will be of short duration. Several prospective land buyers have been looking over this section lately. Harvey Morgan delivered a load ot lumber to the D. E. Hutchison home Wednesday, to be used for a garage. Mr. and Mrs. Amos Aires are spending a few days at the trusty ranch. Mr, Aires Is trying his luck the first days ot the hunting season The community was sorry to hear of the sudden illness of Mrs. D Qentry, which resulted in a major operation, and all are glad to hear she Is doing nicely. Mrs. Miller had Mrs. D L. Zlm merlee and Mildred Yound as lunch eon guests Tuesday. The Dave Pence family are, busy making sorghum. W. W. Wllllts motored to Medford oe day this week on business. Lowell Ash was a dinner guest of GRIFFIN CREEK GRIFFIN CREEK. Ore., Sept. 28. (Special) School was dismissed last Friday afternoon to allow the chil dren to attend the fair. Four ot our children won ribbons. Miss Helen Judy won first in division two sewing. We are very proud ot Helen, P.-T. A. met Thursday with very small attendance for the first meet ing. Next meeting, October 29, will be a Hallowe'en social. Miss Cora and Clara Crandall at tended the fair and went home with their father to spend the week end. Mr. and Mrs. O. E. Martin and son, Karl Dean, spent the week-end In Klamath Falls. Mr. and Mrs. George Flsk and daughters were dinner guests Sunday of Mr. and Mrs. B E. Morrison. Mrs. Bessie Fields and son, Vern. who have been staying with her sister-In-law, Mrs. 8. J. Meadows, has moved to Central Point, where Mrs. Fields has employment. Mr. and Mrs. Cook lost their hiuse by . fire early Saturday morning. They were only able to save a few pieces of furniture. Miss Marjorle and Nathalie Mar tin were week-end guests of their grandmother, Mrs. Gray of Ashland Donald Meadows and Miss LUlle McQutgg were mniyled last Saturday by the Christian minister in Med ford. They are at the present time living on the home place. Several of the young folks were on hiking parties Sunday, taking advantage of the sunshine. We are very sorry to hear that Mrs. Touchatt has been 111 and hope she soon recovers. CRATER LAKE NATIONAL PARK. Ore. (Special) Although the peak of the tourist season was passed some time ago and preparations are being made for wintry weather, Crater Lake continues to attract a steady stream ot visitors from all parts of the nation. The number is neces sarily smaller than It was a month ago. During the past few days, three eastern hitch hikers arrived and while all were making a tour of na tional parks in the west, they were not traveling together. One hailed from Philadelphia. Another came from Chicago and the third gave his home as Albany, N. Y. The hikers were In their early twenties, were- neatly attired and carried military packs on their shoulders.
