the city council last night the coun
cil unanimously approved a number
of appointments made by Mayor
Guild is.
William Davis, care taker at the
cfly autu camp for the past two
years and who baa been serving as
such to far this year without formal
appointment, was reappointed.
In accordance with the agreement
which the city has with the Jackson
County Fair Association, the mayot
appointed the following six directors
to represent tho city government on
the fair board: H. L. Walther, C. E.
Clates, W. II. Core. 8. 1. Brown, O.
O. Alenderfer and John H. Carkin.
The following were appointed by
the mayor as a board to appraise city
holding of propeVty and make their
report of such to E. M. WiUon, the
expert accountant, who is making an
audit of the city's books: E. M.
White. J. W. Wakefield, C. M. KIdd,
Scott Davis and A. H. Miller.

On Slay llth the government will
sell at the Roseburg land office over
$225,000 worth of pine, fir,' cedar
and hemlock Btumpage to the highest
bidder.
This timber is located In Jackson,
Douglas, Klamath and several other
counties In the Roseburg district,
wll laverage from $2 to $5 per thou
sand feet, is some of the best timber
on the coau and there will no doubt
be a number of bidders. The cedar
is the most valuable of all the
stumpage.
This timber Is being advertised in
this paper.
