BRINGING NOW WHAT THE, MATTER? LOCAL DAIRYMEN !T0 POOL SALES jy 1 CELLAR In an effort to secure a square deal and put' their Industry' upon a paying basis a number of local dairy men met at Gllman's dairy yesterday afternoon and formed an organiza tion t'o be known as the "Southern i- Oregon Milk Producers' Association." Ben Hilton was elected president; Lester1'-Merrlman, secretary and treasurer, and the directors will in clude In addition to the president, M. A. Walsh, H. O. Pech, J. D. Wil liams and George Gllman.; , . The members of this association say they will represent ownership of at least 350 of the best dairy cows In the valley, and it is planned to adopt a pooling system of milk sales, so that the Industry in this valley may be saved, and the dairy men al lowed to make a decent living. Ac cording to the' organizers, they have been operating at a loss because of the low price paid for milk, and the high price of labor. If some agreement with the Hert ford creameries and milk distribu tors can't be reached then the asso ciation plans to put on its own milk route In Medford. All the cows In the association, according to the or ganizers are under Btate and federal supervision, are tuberculin tested and of the highest grade in every way. NEW YORK Elbert H. Gary, chairman of the United States Steel corporation said last night his recent speech regarding immigration had been misconstrued and that he had never been In favor of unrestricted Immigration, as had been reported.
