Is a 124 page pocket size' booklet Just
Issued by the luzuma club, a moun
tain climbing organization of Portland,
Oregon. The booklet contains many
k a'uthorltative articles pertaining to
Crater Lake National park, its scenic
wonders, trails, road system and ad
ministration. The history, discovery
an4 formation of Crater Lake; the wild
life and wild flowers; fish, trees, place
names; Indian legends, and the story
of "The Statue of a Lady" carved on a
great boulder near Government camp.
The botanical information with half
tone reproductions Is decidedly inter
esting as are the geological notes.
Kvery Oregonian and others will do
well to secure a copy, and learn more
of our own national park.

ated Press), At a plenary session of
the non-Russian delegates at The
Hague conference today, It was decld-
4 ed to grant the Russian request for a
joint meeting on tne instinct condi
tions that it would be only for the pur
pose of presenting new proposals.

The Rogue River Community club
was organized at Rogue River last
evening. It was an enthusiastic
meeting of citizens of Rogue River
and surrounding territory. The club
has as its object the getting together
of nil people of that locality for their
mutual benefit.
Representatives of the Grants Pass
Chamber of Commerce were pres
ent and the Grants Pass bund gave
a concert In the beginning of the
evening, after which the meeting was
held in the community hull.
A. R. Bradsheur was elected
president and Sam Raker and Geo.
C. Sabin of Grants Pass pledged the
support of (he people of their com
munity to assist the organization in
its work.
H. O. Frobach represented the
M'edford Chamber of Commerce and
explained the benefits which could
be secured by an organization such
as the Rogue River Community club
which later on could be affiliated in
a federation of,ull associations of that
character for county wide benefit.
He encouraged the citizens of that
end of the county to get in back of
the county fair and congratulated
them on their progresslveness on
their effort to make a community
display. .

poral Rodney Shaver, of the state po
lice, poured eighteen gallons of contra
band whiskey down a rain spout in the
rear of the office of Magistrate Clark.
The liquor had been captured In raids
by the state police. Before' entering
the spout the "hootch'' ran over a tin
roof, and, after the liquor had disap
peared, it was found that tho red paint
on the roof was blistered.
"No wonder that 'hootch' hrts a
kick," Magistrate Clark said. "Any
body who would drink that stuff does
not have a high regard for his health."
Strikers Enjoined
ST. LOUIS, July 18. The temporary"
Injunction issued by Federal Judge
Trieber at Little Rock, Ark., last week,
restraining striking employes of the
Missouri Pacific from interfering with
the road's employes or trains in east
ern Missouri, was continued indefin
itely today by Judge Trieber.

EVANGELIST SAYS
"How long shall God's people and
the sanctuary be trodden down by
the desolating powers?" was the sub
ject of a remarkable lecture by
Evangelist T. L. Thuemler. in the
tent lit Ivy and Sth streets lust night
where he hu's been giving Bible
studies nightly during the past two
weeks. The evangelist answered the
question by reading the verse found
in Daniel 8:14 "Unto two thousand
three hundred days, then shall the
sanctuary be cleansed."
"The cleansing of the sanctuary is
the same as atonement or the judg
ment, being synonymous terms."
said Mr. Thuemler.
"In the eurlhly sanctuary or tab
ernacle offerings were made daily,
the sinner brought the offering, a
lamb, or of whichever kind, to the
door of the tabernacle, nnd having
confessed his sins over tho victim's
heud, he then slew it-by his own
hand. The high priest then took into
the first apartment of tho sanctuary
the blood, and sprinkled it several
times' before tho vail which separated
the holy from tho most holy place.
Whether the, blood wns taken to the
sanctuary or applied to tho alter or
burnt offering ut the door ot the
tabernnfle, it represented the trans
fer of the sins of the offerer to the
sanctuary. Lev. 4.
"The last day of each year was
called the day of atonement, or the
Judging of tho people. The high
priest brought two goats to the door
of the sanctuary and cast lots upon
them, one was chosen for the Lords,
the other for the senpegoat (satan).
The priest slew tho Lord's gout, and
curried tho blood into the second
apartment, sprinkled It upon the
mercy seat eastward, and before the
mercy sent seven times, thus making
an atonement for all tho people nnd
clennsing the sanctuary. Lev. 16:6
22. All this performance wns only
typical, 'It could not make the
comers thereunto perfect,' Ieb. 10:
1-3. Those offerings were designed
to bring tho sinner to Christ,, tho real
offering and the work performed on
the last day of tho yeur pointed to
the final Judgment which would tnke
