There is a rough stretch on the Trail road between Trail and McCloud, but the excellent smooth macadam between Kincaid Hill and Trail allows a speed equal to the state limit of 30 miles per hour and better time is claimed by persons using the Trail road than by those who have gone recently by Derby. Lane Goodel, commander of the Amer ican Legion for the state of Oregon was in this city today to confer with local members of the legion relative to the coming convention in The Dulles, Oregon. OBITUARY FIELDER Julia Chectham Field er was born In Coldwater, Mich., and died July 14, 1922. She cntuo to Oregon witli her parents, when a child making her home at Central Point. After a few years she moved to Medford whero she received her education In the public schools. She also was a graduate of the Oregon Stato (Normal and attended the Uni versity of California. At the age of fourteen she joined tho Methodist Episcopal church ill which she has oeen an active member. She was In terested in all phases of church ac tivities, especially devoting much of her time and energy to the work of the Woman's Foreign Missionary So ciety. She began her work as teacher 1n tho Ashland Normal, later entering the public schools of Medford where she has served as a most loyal and efficient teacher for many years. She devoted herself to these duties with out personal thought, and was be 3" 3C comedy, alive with action and brimming over with laughs...:.
